7 Sex Questions Your Kid Should Have Answers To at Age 13

Dear Parents and Future Parents,

You may wonder why I choose 13. I choose that, because 13 is the legal age for using websites that are not regulated by COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1999). For this article, I use 13 as the age at which you participate on websites intended for the general public. Now, before your little ones participate on Internet forums and social media, there are some things about sex that they should know, so they don't ask them to random strangers online. Strangers may not take them too kindly.

Sex Questions That You Should Make Your Kid Know Before 13

I just watched porn. Why does the guy have to move in and out of the girl?

Why does the girl make noises?

Why does the camera only shoot the girl's face, but the guy's face is off-screen?

Why must the condom be put on an erect penis?

Do men wear condoms all day long, so when they want to have sex, they will be ready?

I just watched porn. Why do the guy and the girl have to change sex positions so quickly and so often? Is there a purpose to the different sex positions and the timing in sexual intercourse?

I just saw porn. I think the white stuff is semen or ejaculate, but I don't understand why the guy has to extract the penis and excrete the ejaculate on the body instead of inside the vagina. Isn't that counterproductive in reproduction? Can she still get pregnant if the semen goes into her mouth?

Each question is about an aspect of sexual intercourse, many of which are related to the explicit depictions of sex in online pornography. With the great volume and easy access to online porn these days, prepubescent children in the developed world can just look for porn online. Make sure your kids know what they are getting themselves into, and have a discussion with your kids. That way, they get informed about sex and won't embarrass themselves in front of an Internet crowd as 30-year-old virgins who are clueless about sex.

  • A discussion of sex means shit in being a 30 yr old virgin.

  • Or you could just put filters on your internet connection to stop porn being downloaded. Teach your kid about love and sex slowly over the years a bit at a time. So by the time they are old enough to watch porn they will realise its not realistic.

    • Thta's not really possible I don't think. I've nvr had to download pron to watch it anyway.

    • @SovereignessofVamps It works in the UK. Get in touch with your internet provider. If they can't do it for you, they should at least be able to tell you what you can download to do it.

    • Sorry, but ISP's blocking access to sites like Pirate Bay are overcome in two mouse clicks. Same for ANY other site. Proxy servers, VPN's, onion routers etc can get you anywhere.

  • But don't you think there's a difference between porn and real life

  • A 12 year old can answer all of these. Raise your standards.

  • To answer all questions: porn is fake.

  • Having come from an extremely conservative family, all these subjects were (and still are) a big taboo. For example, if there's a kissing scene about to happen in a movie, they would turn off the screen immediately. I think that is a very anachronistic and ineffective way to teach your kids about sexuality. You don't give proper sexual education by telling your kids that sex is a shameful and dirty thing.

  • I'm pretty sure I knew al the answers by the time I was 12. Maybe 11. Lol

  • Damn the last part is savage af but yeah you have point tho kids should know these things by 13

  • my brother say he just likes having sex but does not do it because he is online school

  • no... however it would be smarter to avoid getting parenting advice from GAG

  • I'm 18 and i can't respond to the majority of question here so I don't think a 13 years old child should answer to all of that

  • I've always wished that someone had explained masturbation and sexual health to me. I'm now 17 and afraid to try masturbation because whenever I do I have no idea what I should be doing and I embarrass myself. II also didn't know about the proper ways to keep clean down there. I had to learn everything myself and on the internet.

  • I don't think my parents could answer half of these.

    • Hahaha, I don't think I could adequately provide answers to these questions!. I certainly wouldn't be discussing this if I had a 13 year old child. ( I would however send her to a convent until she turned 18, if she came to me with these questions) . What ever happened to the innocence of childhood?

  • What a load of nonsense. Sex education is one thing and children of appropriate age should learn about sex and how to protect themselves. Porn IS NOT sex education neither should be the source of questions. You presuming that children of 13 will watch hard porn lol that will not happen with parents active and monitoring their internet activity. Those questions are just cheap

  • To all the people who are saying 13 year olds don't need to know this/ don't want to know this.

When I was 10 I started developing breasts. By the time I was 12 I had a b cup, so my mom gave me the "talk" and by that I mean an awkward conversation with her telling me what STDs are and what sperm is. But she left out how the sperm gets in the girl. I knew you had to be naked but that was about it... So can you guess what I did? I looked up porn! And fortunately a video about the difference between porn and really sex. After that I looked up stuff like "anal" "masturbating" " how to use a condom". Then when I was 13 I learned about bdsm, fetishes, how people of the same gender have sex, what threesomes are and all sorts of fun stuff.
What I'm trying to say is if you don't teach them about sex they'll learn elsewhere. Whether it's porn, on the internet, or god for bid in real life, they'll find someone to teach them.

    • Wow. I didn't see any porn until I was late in my college years. I wasn't interested in looking pornography, and I thought porn sites would have spyware or something that would spy who's visiting on the site. Then one day in my college years, I took the gamble and visited a porn site. I couldn't believe it. It was the first time that I realized that people moved during sex. Lame, I know. That's just my experience. If I tell anyone, then nobody wouldn't believe me.

    • I'm sure you went through puberty at the normal age range. At least to me that sounds normal, I went through puberty a lot earlier. I finished puberty at age 10 with menarche. When I was 6-7 years old I already had body and pubic hair. At age 8 developed breasts and by age 10 I was a C cup. My parents would just tell me not to have sex but as far as sex education went I educated myself. Not with pornography but with information about how intercourse works, diseases and how they're spread etc. I think that saved me from becoming overally promiscuous at a young age as everyone else. Luckily for me the computer was in the living room and not in my own private room and someone was always around. For other kids with their own computers I'm certain they looked at some fairly degrading things. I definitely agree communication is key and it's important you educate your children before they or someone else tries to. Kids shouldn't be exposed to those sorts of things, it degrades the mind.

    • My parents never explicitly told me anything about sex. But they gave me a handful of children's books about the topic, though. Kid-friendly stuff.

  • Wtf who watches porn at 13? I didn't even know what sex was till I was 16. And they aren't gonna wonder stuff like that, they'll just think that's how it is

    • I thought most people did.

  • 13 is a lot too young for know things like that.

    • It isn't in my opninion, around that age i was already watching porn and masturbating. I think i started when i was 12. Its an age most teens become sexually aware.

    • I feel like the only 13 year old who also thinks 13 is too young -_-

    • @sawno I'm 18 and I never watch porn of all my life and I masturbate one time when I was 17 but I stop it.
