8 Ways Porn Can Negatively Affect You
Porn is an ever invasive presence in our lives. It’s available free, on many sites and is constantly trying to get our attention via pop-up ads or banners. It is no wonder then that more and more people are watching porn and that porn sites like PornHub see more traffic than most others. It is, however, foolish to think that all this porn-viewing will not affect the viewers. Here are some ways porn can negatively affect you .
1. Watching porn induces the Coolidge Effect, where people seek newness. That means sex will only be fun for you if you can manage to find new partners all the time. It’ll be harder to get and stay aroused if you get into a long-term relationship.

2. Porn is affecting younger and younger kids, with kids younger than 12 admitting that they’ve watched porn. That’s means they’re starting off with very unrealistic expectations at very impressionable ages.

3. Cambridge University conducted brain scans of porn addicts and found that they looked exactly like those of drug addicts.link here

4. Porn addicts believe that their addiction causes depression and anxiety, and it also negatively affects their ability to find a romantic partner.

5. Watching porn releases dopamine which causes pleasure, but regular release of dopamine desensitizes the brain and leads to a dull response to sexual stimulation over time. This dulling of the dopamine effect means that viewers need to watch more porn than before to experience any pleasure. They also need to watch more graphic and extreme content.

6. One of the effects of an orgasm is the release of oxytocin, the bonding hormone, which helps bind you to your partner. When you watch porn, your ‘partner’ is in the screen, so your brain forms an attachment to those images, driving you to keep watching porn.

7. Porn can quickly go from being a casual pastime to a full blown addiction that takes up hours each day and can take a toll on the body.

8. Porn viewing does something strange to men: it makes them have high expectations from women; yet in real life, their preference is for a computer screen and a bottle of lotion rather than a real woman.

What Girls & Guys Said
8 32If you have a pathetic life, don't blame it on porn.
right
Thank you for being brave and sharing this, it's something people need to know about. I think the people that are calling bullshit on this are the ones who just don't want to stop looking at porn
Porn is awesome cause women suck nowadays. Id rather jerk it than hear a woman nag at me all day.
Go do the laundry and clean the bathroom. Don't let me have to tell you twice.😐
Yes ma'am
by the way the light bulb in the kitchen has to change and I need you to go pay my phone bill as well.
Okay, is there anything else i can do for you?
Are you done with the laundry? Please get to it , gosh!
Im done bby
Need any sexual favors?
Depends on the individual
1 reason porn is good for your health
It feels amazing
Heroin is good for your health?
@djvtech duhh
It reduce stress
1. I have a different oppinion on first point, people seek newness by default even kids do that, that's why we create new things all the time, more than that in U. S. A (consume is promoted) you buy a lot of stuff even tehnology stuff, while in other countries people stick with what they bought for a longer period of time.
4 I had depresssion and suicidal thoughts long before watching porn
8 Let's see I was abused and humiliated by a lot of females from a young age and by males too that's why I tried to find a way out. And expectations are in all domains, I am a virgin of course my expecations maybe be too high but that not only because of porn, if a woman reads romantic books she might have same unrealistic expectations from her partner because she didn't eperience in real life.
I don't use lube and also I can't deal with addiction on my own, I tought about that but I am just a human being I can't do everything by myself.
9 Addiction makes people flee from their problems even from a short period of time. If you would face lot of issues and you don't have any help your body seeks a way to confort.
good read
This was a good read and I def see the neg points on this, but I think porn can be very positive and beneficial as well. Not everybody gets addicted to it. It is fun to watch and it's actually educational and informative. It's a nice enhancement if you're together with your wife or when either are alone. For example we don't watch rough gangbanger whores 8. We watch tasteful couples romance porn from new sensations. It is more slower, loving and romantic and we love it. It's not a guy just pounding or pildriving a girl like a whore off thenstreet. We or one of us could be tired for example, one of us wants it bad, so that person turns it on and we lay together. She lays on my chest, She often reaches down my pants and gives me a huge hard on. We watch for awhile longer, both are now ready and we have good sex and fall asleep. It's not that we or one of us needs it and we can't get together without it. It's a huge enhancer like a sex toy though. Like I said it's educational too and we both learn and try something new we've never tried or looks like fun to spice and keep things always hot. Neither is addicted to porn though and we don't have any other bad mentioned affect. Porn also can give a person a sense of confidence they might have otherwise were lacking.
I was unable to get into relationships long before I started watching porn. Porn keeps me from losing my mind and giving up on life...
I feel that too, I just feel like porn is better then girls too
@independentman I didn't say that.
whops 😧😵
I don't find any woman attractive after I masturbate so I always feel I don't need to find a girlfriend... I really need to stop this shit...
Keep masturbating. You will get to keep your house, your retirement savings, you will not be impoverished for life by child and spousal support payments and you have much less risk of being accused falsely of rape or sexual harassment.
@cth96190 ur funneh
i feel that too
I'll stop dealing with my body's phisical needs and address them with women.
Wait, they want nothing to do with me because I don't measure up to the standards of self-entitled people for whom dating is compleatly geared towards, where they have all the benifits with little responcability for effort.
Guess I'll have to go back to porn until women grow up and stop judging us on superficial things like job title, social statice, hight, amount of hair, type of car, friends, particular type of car, no kid!, how much other women desire him, on and on.
Maybe one day women will, I don't know, say, judge us on the content of our character and realize that we, like all humans, grow and are not the final product women seem to be looking for but works in progress, like women, and love is far deeper, more valuable and enduring when people grow together over years. Not expect perfection from the start.
Great Take, #5 was an eye opener.
The problem with this is that most of them are actually interconnected and not separate reasons. For instance most addictions are caused by releases of neurochemicals so stating that porn addicts have the same characteristics as anyone who has flooded dopamine in the brain and then afterwards stating that it causes a dopamine flood isn't really stating two separate facts.
Number 8 and Number 2 are also exactly the same.
Number 7 is just the definition of an addiction.
Number 6 is just outright false.
So this is maybe 4 at a stretch. I highly recommend you educate yourself on the subject because not only is it more complex but if you genuinely believe this you would be very, very surprised at the effects of romance novels or any type of erotica.
While VISUAL porn is often cited as a problem due to it's proliferation there are many types and not any given one of them is known to be less addictive. The addition properties lie in the actual fantasizing process when referring to pornography:
"Unlike most other types of sex addiction, fantasy sex occurs when individuals are obsessed with fantasies that are sexual in nature. Although they may involve a romantic partner or lover, they typically allow the person to remain detached from anything that resembles genuine intimacy. In that sense, they provide an escape from reality."
(https://www. hypersexualdisorders. com/types-hypersexual-disorders/)
The core behavior can be found in almost all populations, though most "declared" are male, but it is actually a cross between all sexual media. This is fascinating because looking at media sales and trends between romance novels there are some very prolific themes that actually cross between video and written pornography and it has the same effect. (https://acculturated. com/why-romance-novels-turn-women-on/)
I would then dare to venture to say that it is not something that "happens to men" so much as it is a thing that happens to humans but humans are complex creatures so this blurb here even doesn't do the subject justice. There is a lot to sex addiction that has yet to be found such as why individuals enjoy voyeurism and what type of power that grants or...
No one cares. Why do I answer these? I hate myself for these tirades.
So much bullshit!
Is this another attempt to take away porn from men so men will get outside and spoil the fuck out of entitled women (who post mytakes like this) on expensive restaurant dates for a *chance* to get laid and getting them back into the plantation?
With porn you don't have to spend a shit ton of money on women and you can just get right to it. Same effects are with having regularly sex.
Fuck that shit! Attacking porn is a too common trend these days. We need a change in this subject!
I guess you're addicted to porn right. And you can't get a date.
No. I just see most of these points not applying to me.
''Porn viewing does something strange to men''
it seems like I can't go one day without finding at least 10 articles attacking men. here is a eye opening moment for you. 1. 43% of all porn accounts are actually listed as female, so no, its not just men and a ''bottle of lotion'' so f off. 2. those studies are actually false under any sense. you haven't checked the sources of the articles, have you?
Why are you offended? You are affected by some of these right? Lol.
im offended because everytime I turn around its someone talking about men, our outlook on things and why its wrong. Its constant criticism from self righteous people who act like their side is doing just fine.
Its all true.
You're right on all of these. I've answered questions from women here saying their 20-something boyfriends couldn't get it up in bed but had no trouble with porn. Well… there's your problem. 20-somethings don't get ED unless they've rewired their brains with porn.
True, but guys won't admit they are addicted. My best friend boyfriend has this same problem and its affecting their relationship.
Watch it with the absolutes there, tiger. Performance anxiety, various kinds of intoxication, blood sugar swings, circadian rhythms... hell, even lower-than-average blood flow to extremities ("my hands are cold all the time")... you srsly gna say with a straight face that NONE of these things exist until age 30+? I mean... twenty-something erections are like the power grid in a big 3rd world city. It's gna be on MOST of the time... but, it'd be naive to expect it to be up and running ALL the time. (Which is also why it's a terrible idea for boys to rely on their dicks too much as agents of pleasure-giving.)
@redeyemindtricks Of course you're right; it's not the only reason. It's the first one I'd ask about, though. Loved your last line, by the way. I just wrote my first myTake on that subject.
OP: A whole generation has this problem. The Playboys I grew up with are nothing in comparison. Not that free availability of extreme porn doesn't affect everyone, but when it's all you've ever known it gives it an aura of being normal. It's really kind of sad that it's the new normal.
Did you? I'll have to check it out. I mean... to be perfectly honest? in a hypothetical world where people could do thes ethings without judgment... I think most boys could become MUCH better lovers -- not to mention much more in touch with their OWN pleasure -- by wearing a strap-on and using **that** for everything they'd normally use their dick for. (And then, once they'd acquired the ability to Get Her Off consistently... then they could have unrestricted dick privileges.) I mean, think about it... Not only the obvious (they'd be a lot more motivated to figure out different ways to get her off, because 1/ there's no feeling in the dong 2/ they'd want those dick privileges mahah), but also the perhaps-not-quite-as-obvious (they'd also start to "research" different ways to experience pleasure THEMSELVES). Of course, that would never happen without everyone feeling all weird and icky from the pseudo femdom insinuations. Which is honestyl too bad. (and no, I don't know where the
dick would go in teh meantime... haven't thought it through to that extent mahah)
"OP: A whole generation has this problem" ^^ I mean... honestly? I know I'm playing the gadfly role too well today, but... I don't agree with this, either. My 14-year-old has seen, well, basically what's out there to be seen, porn wise. The boy knows how to access the dark web, even... and he's pretty curious about things in general. (No, I don't know what specifically turns him on. No, I don't rlly *want* to know.) The boy also thinks that the idea of "porn creating a new normal" is laugh-out-loud ridiculous. His exact words (to his friends, I overheard this from the other room) "Dude what? That's like seeing those fast-food billboards, where they have that fake food all staged to look super juicy and shit... and trying to say THAT's actually going to ruin the way **real food** tastes." Boy's got a point. Of the 5 senses, 3 are COMPLETELY absent from porn. Not to mention the lack of, uh, interactivity. mahah. I mean... If porn can actually ruin some boy's chances with real
women, then... if we're being brutally honest? That's some piece of shit boy who's no real loss anyway. The kind of boy who'd also think that going to a prostitute is just as good as (or even better than) sex with a woman who actually WANTS him. Given a boy who actually views sex as something to **experience** WITH a woman -- rather than as something to **take** FROM a woman -- the chance that porn is going to ruin his desire for a (n attainable) real-world woman is exactly 0.000000 percent. The grip of death, of course, is another story. About that, I am ill qualified to make any statements either way lol.
@redeyemindtricks Porn isn't all-bad for the consumer as long as it's moderate. It might serve as a menu of what's possible and what might turn you on. That's not the kind of porn watching I'm talking about. It's good that your son has some sense, but his friends will end up a much worse lovers being addicted, and the lack of a warm body next to them with its scents and textures is a big part of the problem. They end up with a reliance on really extreme visual stimuli that the average woman has no interest in doing, bodies with extraordinary proportions, and used to a grip that no vagina can match, jerking off half a dozen times or more at one sitting. If they're then with their girlfriends and confronted with the real thing, how can they compete? It would be nice if people were more open to varied experiences. Guys who admit they're sub or switch get eaten alive here!
Ah. You added in the mean time. It's not something to experience with a woman. Consuming porn, the way it's usually done, is completely selfish. The effect of porn is that it transforms your thinking, even if you start watching with "good" intentions. My personal experience is that it affects you. I went through a phase about 10 years ago… you know some of my history. Suddenly I notice I'm lasting a LOT longer, and it's not because I'm superman… it's that this isn't doing it for me. My thought was, "OH *FUCK* NO!" I've avoided porn ever since.
Lol... I mean, anyone who labels him/herself "sub" or "dom" -- as if such labels apply copmletely across the board -- just reminds me of a child playing in a sandbox. Like... ok, well, mb you'll start figuring out what this is rlly all about in a decade or two. 😂 I mean MY knee-jerk reaction with self-declared "sub males" is to throw shade at them, too. Because 99.9% of them aren't even rlly "submissive" in any meaningful sense -- they're just spoiled brats who don't want to put out any EFFORT. And their idea of a "dominant woman" isn't dominant in any meaningful way, either -- she's just someone who'll do all the work, so he doesn't have to (... but, amazingly enough, ALWAYS in ways that happen to coincide with *HIS* fetishes). But believe me, I throw just as much shade at soi-disant "dom" males. Because 99.9% of them, too, are just shit talkers -- whose idea of "dominance" is just PHYSICALLY NORMAL SEX. I wrote about
that here:
www.girlsaskguys.com/.../q2383024-how-do-you-let-guys-know-you-want-to-have-rough-sex
__
Also... dude... mb this is just me, but, I REALLY hate when people talk about "porn addiction". Because that's an insult to the experience of anyone who's ever had a REAL addiction.
When was the last time someone bloodied their arm smashing through car windows, trying to steal enough visible change/bills to pay for next month's Brazzers subscription? When was the last time said "addict" turned to a life of petty, high-risk, low-return crime to get his porn fix?
Oh that's right, it was the day before NEVER.
Srsly, people just need to gtfo with this porn "addiction" shit. Everyone learns sooner or later that nothing's free, and that collateral losses are a thing... for some people, this might be the formative lesson about collateral losses.
But, an "addiction"? Fuck no. Oh sweet fucking HELL to the no.
@redeyemindtricks We're going way off topic with the dom/sub thing. I was only responding to your comment on femdom that you mentioned. And then you go off on me with LOLs for terminology? Ha! Come on... I love a good argument, but that's just being argumentative for its own sake. I'm sticking to my guns on porn addiction. Smashing car windows has nothing to do with addiction. Porn is free, and that's why nobody needs a brazzers subscription. If people could stream meth and crack from the Internet for free, you don't think drugs would be a bigger problem? I'm kinda surprised at your response. I'd think you'd be saying addiction does the same shit to your brain no matter what it is you're addicted to.
Your son isn't representative of his contemporaries. Don't forget he's spent his lifetime around a brilliant mom who isn't afraid of talking openly about sex. If he sees porn the same way he sees a hamburger ad, that's awesome. And it's a great comparison. The fast food companies study precisely what it is about the taste of their products that makes people crave them--including the psychology of it--and pushing the envelope, and everybody gets fatter as a result. It's not an addiction? Are you sure?
"a brilliant mom" ... oh shit, he ain't even mine? 😂 Ya, I'm feisty today, srry. But, I mean... I guess here's the best way I could articulate this: • Hardcore addictions can destroy the CORE elements of yr life. Like, bottom of Maslow's pyramid. They can literally deprive you of food, shelter, basic health, and even subsistence-level money. • Porn "addiction" can destroy the UPPER layers of Maslow's pyramid -- but let's get real, porn isn't going to put you out on the street. Or $100k in debt to some loanshark charging 25% interest per month. Or risking life and limb in gang warfare. Or at constant risk of cardiac arrest. That comparison is just... nah. Just seems like precisely the sort of thing for which the #firstworldproblems hashtag was created. I mean... if you have a personal history here, then, this is where we share an awkward look and I change the subject to something more exuberant. 😂 because yeah __ Also, the other thing is... I don't think porn "competes" with
people's real relationships as much as people sometimes say it does. I mean, think how many people have this whole madonna/whore thing going on (or the analogous lover/provider thing going on, in the other direction). If wifey is the madonna and porn is the whores, then... well, that's still several varieties of smh, but at least in that case it's hard to sustain the argument that the two are meaningfully in competition with each other. I dunno man.
Flirting releases dopamine as well... BAN FLIRTING!!!
