They are probably surprised because not many women do it. Also, it is entirely possible to have hip movements that go against the man's natural movements and actually make things more difficult or uncomfortable. I suppose from there you can guess which area you fall into - if there surprise seems pleasant, don't stop. If they are disgruntled in their surprise then perhaps you need to change your motions or stop altogether (or choose a position in which your participation doesn't conflict with his). >_>

I agree with setcheck67, it can be difficult to find a pace that suits you both. If he is on top I would let him take the lead. If I'm riding him I set the rhythm/pace.

Yea girls can hump as well. I personally prefer to be the one doing the humping, because I get all pent up just taking it and going the girls pace I almost never cum. However yea girls can hump too, but rhythmic humping is kinda hard to do, because it's hard to keep the same rhythm between both people.

I agree - I feel like unless you've been with the same partner for quite a while and have a good gauge on their typical pacing then it is hard to ensure a good rhythm... also... sex doesn't always go at the same pace o_O... so if one person wants to transition to a different pacing the other needs to pick up on the cue pretty quick for things to go... smoothly... lol.
