At what age does a guy's sexual performance decline?

Like after 30? 40? Do guys in their 30s have trouble getting it up? Do older men ever have trouble cumming?

  • Think of sexual performance like an athletic skill that is maintained with practice. Getting it up is mainly a function of having gotten it up previously and continuing to do so on a regular scheduled basis.

Most men whom admit to having issues usually have poor health/medical issues combined with a recent lack of sexual activity.

With good diet, exercise, and proper sleep; There is no reason why a healthy man could not starting at age 16 have sex twice a day, every day until he dies.

Sex is a fantastic cardiovascular activity which produces an assortment of hormones and neuro chemicals some of which relieve stress and anxiety.

Usually it is the stress of family life or an unresponsive partner that causes the initial stress, weight gain, decrease in testosterone resulting in the loss of sex drive and lack of performance.

This is why so many healthy successful older men date younger women. In ancient times feudal kings would frequently have harems or multiple concubines. The regular sex was thought to extend their health and longevity. These feudal kings would often long outlive their subjects however a better diet is a more likely cause.

In essence as a man ages if he does not use it he may lose it. Testosterone is synthesized and regulated by the hypothalamus pituitary gland and testes . Think of this like a factory during economic decline. As time passes with a decline in demand production slows and workers are laid off. It can take a long time to rehire new workers and ramp up production. Sometimes the factory can never go back to full production.

Exercise and regular sexual activity will ensure consistent testosterone production and stave off a decline in sexual performance.

    • I thought when guys haven't had it in a long time, they are super horny and get hard more easily?

    • Only if they are healthy. And 2 weeks is a "long time". If a guy over age 28 has been longer than a month without an orgasm and does not care it is a health issue.

  • I've played with some older men and believe me when I tell you they had no problem at all getting it up, putting it where it feels good and leaving a slippery sticky surprise behind.

I do think there must be some problems with a lot of men as you see the adds for viagra and the other one quite often on TV and the guys they use in the commercials sure don't look very old to me. This would make me think that ED is a bit of a problem with guys starting as early as 30"s

    • You gay?

    • Sorry this is Mrs here while Mr has run to the store

  • i think it depends on the guy. I definitely wouldn't look at a guy in his 30s as old or sexually inept, in fact I would think late 20s to 30s is the ideal sexual time...i know a guy peaks in his late teens and early 20s but to me a man in his late 20s or early 30s is more mature, sexier, may not be as "boom" with his erections but probably knows how to please a woman better and isn't all "teenage horndog" anymore. and at this age (late 20s-30s or so) they don't exactly look old either.

i know guys in their 50s with actively horny d***s and sex lives so I am guessing many men can still get it up just fine.

60 or so is the age when I start to look at a guy as an old man. sure above 30 or so is really too old for me, since I'm 20, but guys in their 40s and 50s aren't really old in my book, just too old for me.

  • Depends on how healthy they are. Guys who are overweight, diabetic, too stressed, don't exercise or are drunk or drugged all the time have more problems, earlier. Guys who work out, maintain a healthy lifestyle and manage stress have fewer problems.

I'd say their "recoil" average time begins to lengthen into their late twenties and the number of times they can come in a day drops. Then by midthirties they might need more time to get the first hard on and to ejaculate, but they can maintain satisfactory sexual performance levels well into their fifties and beyond, provided good health. The good thing is, the less men are walking around with perma-boners, the more they seem to pay attention to the other aspects of bonding and relationships.

    • Wow. That was some creepily accurate.

  • after age 27 you start to get less horny and you don't stay quite as hard and you can't come more than 3 times a day. after age 30+ it starts going down and 40 there's a significant difference. this is what my boyfriend said so I'm typing what he told me :)

    • You shouldn't do what dumbasses tell you to do.

    • No true darlin...I'm more horny now than when I was younger...it's true :)

    • well all I'm saying is NOBODY wants some old guy who can't get it up. once you guys have issues we don't want you. we want a young guy who can't do the job

  • I am getting close to 50( birthday on Saturday!)...and from a performance end...I do not have any issues in getting the "manhood" to go to full parade salute...and to shoot off "fireworks" when it comes(cums!)time to perform. I am sure my darling wife can full atest to abilities if called upon to testify under oath...:)

    • happy early birthday

    • Thank you...I am pretty sure that I will get to test how my "manhood" performs at the 1/2 century mark on couple of occassions on Saturday...:)

  • Still going strong here...actually better than when I was younger. :)

  • NO... completely depends on the individual and their unique circumstances...(:

  • Depends on the guy.

  • It really depends on the guy

  • I'm 38 and I'm a way better lover now then when I was a teenager. I have knowledge and experience. My erections have not changed one bit. It works just. Fine!

  • Generally speaking by mid thirties the number of erections start to drop. By them it would take longer to become erect. Sexual disfunction such as premature ejaculation, not being able to maintain an erection or difficulty ejaculating can accur at any age. Men's sexual peak is at age 19.

However men can become better lovers and more giving sexually as they mature.

    • Not all men! Mine works better now then when I was a teenager! I take good care of myself!

    • Good for you.. As I said "generally". Nothing like an older man whose parts work well and knows how to use it :)

  • Wood issues can happen anywhere in there, as testosterone starts to decline at age 30. Not usually an issue for guys until their 40's and 50's depending on their health. Older guys do start to take longer after maybe 35 or so depending on the guy. Some girls love it, and others are like just get off already! So, basically it is not you, even though you probably wonder that on some level ...

  • I'm both better and worse then when I was younger. But I understand more and think generally I'm getting better.

    I'm mid 30's.

    • Agree with anon ladies. I need direct stim to get hard most of the time, and refractory is probably longer - but ... I have much better control. Generally things are better now.
