I've been sleeping nude pretty much exclusively since I was potty trained. I've always found it more comfortable, and definitely felt like I slept better nude, but did you know there are legitimate benefits to sleeping nude?
Better Sleep
All of us want a good night's sleep. You're lying to yourself if you think otherwise. There's a whole slew of suggestions on how to achieve better sleep, and there's a huge market for products that claim to improve your sleep, but what if I told you there was an absolutely free step you could take? Sleeping nude has been shown to improve sleep in measurable ways. There are a few reasons for this. One is that the body regulates temperatures better while sleeping nude, and well regulated, lower body temperatures are proven to improve sleep. A Study of 765,000 people between 2002 and 2015 concluded that higher and variable body temperatures led to worse sleep. Another study found evidence that heightened body temperature disrupts circadian rhythms, making it harder to fall asleep and to stay asleep. While there are all sorts of gadgets to help keep you cool at night, sleeping nude is free, and can give you the same benefits.
More Comfortable
Clothing easily bunches up, rides up, or just plain gets twisted while sleeping. Elastic bands dig into your skin. Tags itch. All of those are non-issues if you're sleeping nude. Plus, the lack of these discomforts leads to, you guessed it better sleep.
Improved Sex Life
Sleeping nude of course leads to increased skin-to-skin contact, which leads to a greater sense of bonding, and triggers the release of the oxytocin hormone, which increases feelings of trust and has been shown to lead to arousal. Of course, there is also easier access to intimate parts, and less obstacles to initiating sex in the first place.
Health Benefits
Lower Blood Pressure
That same oxytocin that can improve your sex life also has health benefits, one of which is its calming affect, which lowers resting heart rates and blood pressure, so sleeping nude allows for full body contact, which releases more ozytocin than clothed cuddling, meaning sleeping nude is better for your heart!
Its Better for Your Skin
Your skin needs oxygen to stay healthy. While most of your body gets oxygen exposure throughout the day, your genitals and breasts are covered in clothing most of the time and they need oxygen too. Sleeping nude leads to increased airflow to the genitals, which leads to healthier skin in those areas. For women, this increased airflow can also help prevent yeast infections.
