Best age for circumcision?

In your opinion, what‘s the best age for getting circumcised? Why? I know that this varies a lot between countries and cultures.

As someone who was circumcised and having to circumcise a child due to medical reasons, I probably have more valid comments than most to supply.

First off, unless there is a medical reason to have it done, there is no reason to contemplate the notion. The penis works just fine with or without foreskin.

Now, with my son we had to get him circumcised because despite how often we ensured we made everything was clean when he was an infant, he was still having infections every couple of weeks due to having more than average foreskin, which makes it difficult to clean 100% but also increases the chances of infections and eventually STDs when older. Those infections when younger can lead to some long term complications later in life. We sought out professional medical advice beforehand regarding this being an option before deciding. Since having it done, our son has had no infections down there, so it was the right decision for his situation.

As for myself, I can honestly say that I can not honestly say that I have experienced any complications in both general hygiene or sexual performance from having it done. The level of sensation around the head of the penis is the same or greater compared to the rest of the penis, thus the issue of reduced sensation is null and void.

Now... In regards to what age it should be performed, it should be done as earliest as possible or not at all.

An infant can heal faster and far better than a grown adult. Considering that a circumcision can heal better and faster while being a newborn compared to an adult, plus the fact that you would never remember it being done in the first place, there are advantages in that regard.

By the time you hit puberty, the nerve endings and growth of your penis is already in full effect. If you decide to get a circumcision done at that she or later in life, you are up for a lot of serious side effects and pain.

For starters, while in puberty, if you get a circumcision, you will indeed be killing off a number of nerve endings. You will take a longer time to heal, and there will be side effects where sensation is diminished because your body already started to establish pleasure and sensation into the areas you are removing.

As an infant you only have a few weeks of healing to worry about and by the time it is all done, there are not long term side effects. If done older, then you have real issues of diminished sensations and sexual complications.

I guess newborn or a few weeks old so they don’t remember and they’ll heal faster. Or he’ll have to wait till he’s older and can have more control over his arousal, but I don't know bc men have erections in their sleep. The older a male gets, having erections could risk popping the stitches and damaging the skin beyond repair. That is if he’s at the stages in life where he can’t control his erections that well. So yeah it’s probably best to get circumcised as a new born.

If you say "Well, no 18 year old would ever want to be circumcised!! >:I" as if that's a good counter-argument, ask yourself why then do we force it upon infants? If no adult with the ability to choose would want it, then there's no reason to do it to babies. That line of reasoning actually works against your case.

You’re supposed to be circumcised when you’re a new born, that’s how it’s always been. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of any getting circumcised older than a new born. But it completely depends on you ethnicity, beliefs, and your parents lol

I can't quite comment on that. I was circumcised at a very young age due to reasons neither me nor my family knows. But I think it's better if the owner of the penis has the final say in this.

Two weeks old. Honestly getting circumcised later in life requires more pain, healing time and loss of sensation. So I say why do it.

In American hospitals, as soon as the dick is big enough. Usually day 1-2. Asian dicks sometimes require more time. According to my family member who is a mother/baby nurse.
