Best place to sell pictures of yourself online?

Question

So my friends are getting married at the end of the month but had their apartment broken in to. They lost everything and pretty devastated, so I am trying to do a charity thing for them to raise a little bit to at least show them people care.So I did some photo shoots years ago and modeled for lingerie, so I am going to sell my shots online as part of either a calender or "magazine" for this charity.Any ideas where I can do this?

Your intentions may be good, but there are some practicalities you should consider:

1. You better make sure you have permission from the photographer. Under U.S. law, the photographer who shot the photos owns the copyright to those photos. Unless you received a usage license or assignment of copyright, or unless s/he produced them as an employee of a company that you own, you cannot legally sell them. The flip side of that is that s/he cannot legally sell them unless you signed a commercial model release. What if you do it anyway? If you manage to make any money from them, he could sue you for that amount plus legal fees. If he has registered the photos with the U.S. Copyright office then he could also sue you for punitive damages.

2. Without having seen the photos I know nothing about the nature of them. However you should be aware that even clothed photos that could be considered "lascivious" by a judge, jury, bible-thumper with badge, or ambitious prosecutor, may fall under the record keeping requirements of 18 USC 2257. It would pay to get well educated about that before you dive into an endeavor like this.

3. 12 or 15 years ago, some of us made pretty good money selling sexy photos on-line, but today photos of pretty girls in lingerie are a dime a dozen. Collectors want super high quality, or specific fetishes, and general web content doesn't bring in much at all. The last set I sold for web content went for about a dollar an image, and they were much more explicit than lingerie. If you want to sell some photos for fun, get the photographer's permission and have fun, but don't expect to make enough money to sneeze at. You'd get more funds to help your friends if you put on a bikini and washed cars.
