I'm no expert, but as far as masturbation is concerned, I would say no. If your hymen were broke, the gyno would know that. One thing I will say, however, if gyno's could tell, then he or she would be MORE surprised if you DID NOT masturbate. But, seriously, folks, if you can't trust your gyno, who can you trust hehe.
The doctor does not need to look in order to tell. 98 percent of all people masturbate, and 2 percent lie. He knows you rub your nub, we all know. So why are you embarrassed about it? It is like we all know you eat, so what?
First, no doctor is going to be so indiscrete, and second, it's standard to only to a vaginal exam if you're sexually active. The doctor would only go "down there" if you're having some kind of non-standard vaginal secretion, in which case they just swab the vaginal opening with a Q-tip for a lab test.

They probably can't tell unless you somehow broke your hymen, at which point they'll be curious what happened. Besides, We should all develop the habit of discussing our sex lives with our docs.
