Castration for Rapists and Pedophiles?

I've heard people say this on Gag and elsewhere were they just joking or do people actually want this to happen What they did was wrong of course but do you think chopping their nuts off is the right thing to do Say if you're for or against something like capital punishment I want reasons why as well

Cruel and unusual punishment, we don't live in the Middle Ages anymore, and extreme body harm won't help the victim either, there are a number of things we don't understand about human behavior, so using such drastic measures are very likely to fail.
1. This could reduce the number of convictions, because the jury would be afraid of cutting off the dick of an innocent man, so more rapists would go free in this scenario.
2. Not to mention the actual cases of innocent men having their member cut off, how will you hold responsibility for that?
3. We don't understand much human behavior, once we do, we could take the appropriate measures to prevent rapists to offend again.
These are the main arguments I can think of, but either way, extreme bodily harm is just evil and cruel, too bloody, too middle ages, I don't have the stomach for that.

How about prison time for women who falsely accuse men of rape?
Women are rarely violent offenders. Males rarely consider rape as a female tool. Statutory rape is where women usually fall in. I think it ridiculous for age to be a factor alone. The individual should have more say in it. Many sexual encounters are completely consensual. And yeah, I guess you could perform a hysterectomy on a woman offender. How gross!

No I understood. I just expanded a little because woman get away with it more than guys do. I really never understood that other than we use our seduction and charms to get what we want which is more acceptable evidently. Woman who cry wolf are very cruel and I agree they need to be punished. It's amazing what we can get away with. There are probably more woman offenders than is realized, but I can't be too sure about that. I could put any man in jail with a simple phone call, and accusation. However, most of us would never, ever, even consider doing that even if some guy did get a little rough or out of hand.
I'm against it because once a guy is accused of rape he's guilty tell proven innocent. Women Falsely accuse men of Rape quite often and when it's his word against hers it's assumed he's always wrong tell they somehow find out she lied.
oh as a side note would women who rape and murder have a female version of this punishment?

Let the crime fit the punishment. But in all seriousness, there are flaws in the justice system becuase people are imperfect and evidence is not always accurate, and if we admit that our justice system is imperfect, and that there can be no definitive way to prove someones guilt, then how can we impose capital punishment or castration?
The girl is taken for granted too often. Too many men have been jailed on accusation alone. Some are being released now. I gotta fess up I was all for castration when I was like 15 or so. Rape is soo gross. Then, a friend of my mom's husband got accused of rape and jailed. He was ID in a photo lineup I think. DNA proved he was innocent but hear this. He had to go back to court and be re-tried or something like that I don't know too many details. The end is he was released after 18 years in jail. The girl still insists he did it in spite of the DNA. No apologies or anything. His entire family has suffered over this. Even now people shun them. I am soo offended by this unjustice. Even the DAs office infers they did no wrong. WTF! :(
Well, if someone robs a person, is it right to cut off the hand that did it? No.
While rape IS bad, there are better ways to handle it. Chemical castration or antil-libdo pills work, along with house arrest.
Also, what if there was a female rapist? its not as rare as people think. Should we start cutting off breast, sterilizing and force wearing chasity belts on female rapist?

a rape sentence is 10 years, aka 10 years of the rapist life gone. and they are going to be raped by other people in prison, so its a trade off.
It can be done chemically. I would support this in some but not all cases.
I would be worried about mutilating an innocent man. Besides what are you going to do to the women that rape young boys? You can't hold one sex to one standard and not do something similar to the other.

This dood brings up a good point. Considering how poor the US justice system is these days we convict so many innocent people to death row. I think somewhere on the verge of like 30% of those convicted are later found innocent, and those are ones we know of. So for this reason is the only reason I can't currently support capital punishment. But in theory I would if we had a good justice system like we used to.
