With all of my previous partners, I have noticed that they all shared something interesting in common. Anyways, when we would have sex, all of them would get to the point of orgasm, and then stop thrusting and stay completely still while they ejaculated. However, if we were doing a handjob or something, they all preferred for my hand to keep pumping rather quickly all throughout the ejaculation, albeit only on the shaft and not the tip. So this got me wondering about a few things! First, are most guys like this in terms of what they prefer? Does ejaculation feel any better or worse when holding still during sex vs. pumping with a hand? And why exactly do guys seem to want completely different things depending on where they orgasm? Just seems funny to me that they'd need you to keep going full throttle in one scenario, but want everything to come to a complete halt in another!

I've seen guys do that a couple of times in p*rn, but it seems to be the exception rather than the rule. I think most guys tend to slow down their thrusts, and switch to hard, deep thrusts that coincide with their "squirt" rhythm, but stopping completely seems a bit unusual. Now, once the orgasm is actually over, yeah, I think most guys are just going to be still for a minute, as they catch their breath and as their other "systems" start to "come back online."

From similar threads, it seems pretty clear that most guys want/need the action to continue until their orgasm is finished.

Perhaps you are just confused about when they are actually ejaculating, vs the period right after? Sometimes guys can continue to "dry heave" even after they've emptied the tank, so maybe that's it.

Well they usually let me know when they start to cum, and I can usually feel their penis contracting when they ejaculate, so I'm pretty confident about when they "start"

Many, especially on the west equate ejaculation and orgasm. Those are two different things. For most men, ejaculation and orgasm occur simultaneously, but possibly an ejaculation without orgasm and orgasm without ejaculation. If orgasm is with ejaculation, orgasm is better if a man has not ejaculated day or two. The short period between the two ejaculation results in a weaker orgasm. The only way for a male multiple orgasm is an orgasm without ejaculation (Tantra). It's not easy to learn, but every man can learn. Then during one lovemaking a man can have multiple orgasms.

Orgasm with ejaculation or orgasm without ejaculation is always better and stronger in the vagina.

Never thought about it till I read this and I asked my boyfriend about it. Like your experience, hand job, just keep stroking. When we have vaginal or anal sex and he starts to cum, he would thrust all the way in and not move. He'll stay inside me but doesn't want to move, says it's too sensitive lol. Pulling the skin of the shaft back away from the head and towards the base of the penis feels great during orgasm. Maybe the guys you were with were pushing in to increase pleasure during orgasm., not just pausing.
