Some girls will bleed because their hymen tears the first time they have sex. For some girls that's unavoidable, but for most if they're aroused enough their hymen will just stretch, or it will have broken some time before they lost their virginity. Girls shouldn't be in pain their first time, and most shouldn't bleed either. If she and the guy go slowly and make sure she's turned on enough beforehand, and make sure she's wet enough (lube is also a good idea), there shouldn't really be any kind of sign of her virginity being lost. The whole 'cherry popping' thing is a myth
