  • No, of course you don't HAVE to use a condom when having sex during your period!

There are provisos though... a stable, commited, long-term relationship being one. I never use a condom with my girlfriend when she's on. She's on the pill so I never use one anyway, but that proviso I stated is a very important one.

And don't worry about any mess; just put some towels down first.

If you're not sure that he's 'clean', then a condom may be a sensible precaution.

    • If she's on birth control and you never use condoms anyway that would make all the difference. If someone is relying on a condom as birth control, or they want to be sure to be sure they won't give or receive an STD, they need to use a condom. If you don't need a condom because you are on the pill that's completely beside the point.

  • 1) ALWAYS USE A CONDOM! Unless you are married or in a very long term relationship and you know you are both Clean

    2) Why would you want to have sex during your period? That's just messy and in general id say bad...

    3) If you really can't hold yourself at least make yourselves a favor and do it in the shower

  • YES YOU NEED TO because:

    1. You CAN get pregnant when you have your period. The chance may be lower but it is definitely still there.

    2. There is a HIGHER chance that STDs and STIs will be exchanged. You can give them to your partner more easily because all that blood flowing out of you can contain them. You can also receive them more easily because your cervix is open wider and there is more fluid exchange happening in general.

  • You never HAVE to use a condom, but it's a good idea if you want to prevent pregnancy and/or the transmission of STDs (being on your period makes no difference there).

  • ALWAYS use a condom.

  • No you don't, but condom is always a safety just in case you're not on your period. Also, it can be very messy.

    • This answer is EXTREMELY wrong! Take note!

    • Okay, when a woman is on her period the dying/dead egg is released out. Since the egg is leaving there is no chance for fertilisation to occur because the uterus lining is also being broken down. So a condom is not necessary during your period if your only worry is pregnancy however STD's can still be caught. The answer is not extremely wrong, its absolutely correct.

  • You should, you never know where he is been, and there has been cases where some girls have become pregnant while in their periods. It's always better to be safe than sorry, not to mention it will be messy.

  • no

  • You can still get pregnant, but if you're on birth control/you don't usually use a condom and you're in a committed relationship there is no reason why you have to use a condom. If they guy is weird about blood do it in the shower or leave a tampon in. It will get pushed way to the back and will prevent blood from getting all over the place. You will probably need to use lube though because the tampon will absorb some of your fluid.

    • Erm... DO NOT DO IT WITH A TAMPON IN!!! That has to be the stupidest advise I have ever read on this site. It could cause serious problems that could cause you to need surgery OR could prevent you from having children of your own. Wow...

    • Yeah... NOT a good idea... yikes...
