My experience is that if try to think of my partner, then almost without fail it becomes very difficult for me to climax. If I think only of myself (selfishly) then it becomes difficult to please her, because I'll come rather quickly.

Course most women can tell when a man is going to come. But it seems from the responses of the guys here that it is more to do, with making sure she had her pleasure too before he comes rather than anything else.
I guess this is just not an issue I've had...when my husband is going to come too soon and I haven't orgasmed yet he slows himself down or he gets me to where I need to be before he gets back to business. I don't think he's ever said any of those phrases to me it never needed to be said maybe you're right that it's because you have trouble orgasming from penetration and he's over thinking it trying to be extra thoughtful...as long as it's not something he continues to do then I guess it's ok.
