Does it mean anything?

My girlfriend has just recently started inserting a tampon after we have sex. Of course I as a guy will always read more into this. She often does this when we have sex in the daytime and she has to go out with friends. One guy in particular that I'm suspicious about that she says its just "friends". Anyway when I said something to her she says that its because she doesn't want to get a yeast infection and that the tampon sucks up my come from within her vagina. My worp way of thinking is that she's doing this to dry up for someone else. Am I being nuts or is this something I should concern with?

  • My guess is that you may be doing it a tad too rough, and by doing so that's making her bleed (hence her using a tampon to try and soak up that blood). Try increasing the lubrication next time you have sex, either through increased foreplay and/or by using a lubricant such as KY Jelly. Also, if you're using a condom (which you should always be doing unless you're planning to have children), then she should have no reason to put a tampon in provided she's not actually on her period at that stage - since there will be no semen to soak up because it will be inside the condom - thus proving her reason as false if she then does it.

    All in all, the whole 'tampon after sex' thing may just be because she's reluctant to discuss safe sex, and sex in general, with you. She may feel that it's simply the best method for trying to ensure she won't get pregnant without asking you to wear a condom, or it may be because she's not well lubricated during intercourse and you're physically hurting her (and she's not willing to divulge that information to you).

    I highly doubt that there's anyone else though.

    • Women don't bleed inside the vagina from intercourse, even if she isn't well-lubed. god knows how many hours of friction it would take before that happened, and I'm guessing that by that point, she'd be screaming in pain. :)

    • What? how does putting a tampon in after sex ensure she won't get pregnant,if she thinks that's being safe she's an idiot. Once you come in her unless she's on the pill or birth control your sperm is already heading for the egg.

  • Most guys who think their girl is cheating; is because they have a guilty conscious. If this is not you, then she might really be cheating. The tampon issue is not an indicator either way, so if she is not showing any other signs of "stepping out" then let it go and only worry about it if you have some real sign. If you care about her, your jealous will poison the relationship for sure. Maybe it is time to move on now before you guys hate each other.

    I have never heard of that. Ever. How can a tampon suck up cum? It's supposed to be inserted on your period, she's ASKING for an infection by using a tampon OFF her period.

    Yeah there's definitely something weird with that.

    As far as the "other dude", if she says it's friends, then it is. Unless she comes over one time with hickies and shit. Or you catch her. Otherwise, it's just paranoia and you have really no basis to assume she's cheating (remember, assuming makes an ass out of you & me).

    So, until you actually catch her in the act, or find physical evidence to support this...

    Then, it should just be dismissed until the day you do find it.

    As far as sticking a tampon up there...

    That really makes no effin' sense. I've never done that except on my period, because otherwise it's too dry and it's a pain in the ass pulling it out.

  • I'd say she's legit. It's a weird solution, and also probably painful (using a tampon when you don't need it can hurt like a bitch, and occasionally cause tiny lacerations inside the vagina). She might want to consider using a pad instead. A tampon isn't going to "suck up the cum"; it's DEFINITELY not going to help against a yeast infection (I don't even see the logic there).

    The girl below things that she's trying to get pregnant...I highly doubt that. Using a tampon isn't gonna stop up the sperm and force it inward. This sounds like a complete wive's tale. It's just like they said if a girl was on top she couldn't get pregnant, because gravity was too great. It's bull. Keeping her legs in the air or using a tampon would be unneeded...those little swimmers are much more powerful than gravity. They don't need any extra help.

  • Why would she want to 'dry up' for someone else? Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose? She'd just get wet again anyway. I doubt that's the purpose.

    If she does it in the daytime, before going out with friends, she probably just thinks this is a good way to soak up both your fluids so they don't leak out and leave a wet spot in her underwear, or on her pants, more embarrassingly. It's extremely uncomfortable, and will be like that for a couple hours as fluids leak out slowly. Using a tampon when you're not on your period is unsafe and puts her at risk for infection. Just ask her about it. I'm sure that's the reason. Tell her to use a panty-liner instead, because it will serve the same purpose.

The goal to trying to concieve, the girl usually keeps her legs up to keep the sperm/cum from coming out, hence a tampon, keeps it from coming out or "leaking".

  • I don't think she's doing it for the reasons you suspect. I'm assuming she wants to stop the semen from leaking out on her underwear... but by using tampons when its not needed, she's putting herself at risk for toxic shock syndrome which can be fatal. She should use a panty liner for a few hours after instead.

  • I don't think you have too much to worry about. I find that after sex it takes a while for all the fluids to dry up. tampons absorb fluids. I think its just a general comfort thing.

  • ok as a mother and a wife...using a tampon or not isn't going to make a difference in getting pregnant...neither is holding your legs up to prevent sperm from flowing out. As for using it to prevent a yeast infection not going to happen, she's actually going to cause herself to have much worse infections and like lilnurse said putting her at risk for toxic shock. But I don't think she's doing it because she's cheating on you, believe me even if she's trying to get rid of your come for someone else the smell is still going to be there. Maybe talking to her more about it might help.

  • maybe I'm the only one, but I think she's being legitimate. Sometimes that stuff can stay up there for a while and come out slowly. She probably doesn't want to wet her pants that way and sometimes girls can feel it leak out for a little while after. I would do that too if I had to go out somwhere afterward and didn't want to wet myself while I was out. I really do think she's using it to absorb your come. She wouldn't need to "dry up" for another guy because girls get wet when they are with a guy anyway so no guy would even be able to tell.
