Drunk make-out session with best guy friend. Does it mean anything to him?

I just, above all, don't want to hurt him. He has been my study/school buddy for two years, and he has been my party buddy ever since I began drinking. I know he cares about me at least as a really good friend. But he is one of those people who doesn't let people get very close to him and he keeps his emotions guarded. Sometimes he lets his guard down and I think he is into me, but other times its just the opposite. So when we drink together we always get really touchy and kiss each others' necks, but I could never tell if it was sexually charged or just messing around. But this time we just got super drunk, and he just started kissing me, which hey I don't mind, I think its fun. My rule is that if I wouldn't do something sober then I shouldn't do it drunk. I would make out with him sober and so I was OK with it, but when I asked him if he would do this sober he just said I don't know and laughed. My friends say there has always been a 'sexual tension' between us, and at least on my part there are underlying emotions that aren't purely platonic. So basically, my question is, should I treat this like a fun hook up, or should I be more sensitive to whether this meant something to him? Because I just don't want to hurt him and I don't want things to be weird. Help?

I'd like to think this guy is more into you than you might think. Have a good talk with him sometime (sobor) and find out his feelings and don't be afraid to express yours openly with him.
