Girls - what are your thoughts on the birth control pill?

Okay so I am currently on the combined birth control pill - Rigevidon. I take it everyday at the same time. (Perfect use) as they call it. And so far have had no scares. Just curious as to how it works for everyone. So how has the pill worked for you? How long have you been on it? Do you take it at the same time everyday? Do you get any weird side effects? Share your experiences 😊

I've been on it for a long time (11years) but actually stopping this week.
it has been 100% effective lol. I don't take it at the same time everyday, I just take it right before I go to bed (which is still around the same 2-3hour time frame). sometimes I don't even get my period.

bad side effects for me have been
weight gain, low sex deive, and dryness

I also heard that it causes tiredness, migraines (which I've always had so I couldn't tell you) and the longer you take it the hard it is to become pregnant (but I also heard of people who get pregnant within the first month even after being on it so long)

I use to take the pill but only for about a year on and off. I have heard that if you use it a lot for years, it can decrease your chance of having babies later.
-it affects your hormones!! that's the biggest thing that turns me off of taking pills.
I went on it for a few months, then went off and I then tried the nuvo ring, and I didn't like either. I just force him to use condoms now, we have been together for 7 years, he has to think of my happiness too. I don't want my body to be affected just so that we can have sex. I already popped out two kids for him, that's enough my body can take dude... no more.

I love the pill. I've been on it (combination, generic form of Yasmin called Zarah) for over two years now and it's been all good since then. No scares or negative side effects other than maybe a few hours of mild nausea within the first few days of my going on it. I do take it at the same time every day most of the time and if not, I'll be 30 minutes late at most. No weird side-effects. If anything, I guess it's mild-diuretic effect has caused a bit of weight loss for me and my 'period' comes on time like clock-work every month so that's great. Seeing as how it was super irregular before I got on Zarah.

My girl uses to take Yasminelle for 2 months or so. Not good. Totally destroyed sex drive, much harder to cum, always tired, decreased gym performance, cold all the time, mood swings etc. Only better things were that she went up 2 cup sizes and we kind of enjoyed the fact that i could fk her quickly basically everywhere.

However, i know girls that have very mind to zero (noticable) side effects.

All I know is if one birth control doesn't work, there are always other options. Or you can go the condom way and get off the birth control

Condoms are great, but they are significantly less effective as contraception than hormonal method like the pill. Just adding info. Not criticizing.

@MlleCake yep, I know that. I believe hormonal contraceptives are 99% effective and condoms are 98% effective. But there is always spermicide people can use with condoms. Plus when condoms and hormonal birth control and spermicide are used together, there is effectively no risk to pregnancy. Hormonal contraceptives effectiveness can change depending on what the woman is eating or taking as well. Antibiotics decrease the effectiveness as well as being sick.

Condoms are about 82% effective. Hormonal methods are in the high 90s. Spermicide, however, is not healthy for the vagina - it causes micro-tears and makes the woman more susceptible to disease.

@MlleCake ohh so if you use condoms correctly each time and check on it once in a while, the effectiveness is 98%, but if people don't use them correctly, then it's at 82%.

I don't do well on the pill. Definitely no combined pills, my doctor has warnings all over my file not to give them to me 😂

I can do the mini pill ok, but the depo provera shot worked the best with minimal side effects. I stayed on that for 6 years and loved it

I've been on Dianette for the last year. I felt sick every time I took of for the first few weeks but since that feeling has been gone, I haven't really noticed any side effects. It's worked perfectly for me, I've had no pregnancies in the last year 😂 and yes I take it at the same time every evening.

It worked pretty good for me. I've been on it for a few years, no side effects, and I try to take it at the same time everyday. I have missed a day every now and then but I always take it the next day. Still have yet to get pregnant so I'm satisfied.

I took the pill when I was 17 and switch to the implant at 18. The pill wasn't something that I liked or cared for. But it did the job I guess. I used it to help control my period, but I now that I have the implant I wouldn't change back. It helps me a lot more, and I don't have to take a pill everyday around the same time and worry if I forget some how.

It's worked perfectly so far. I've been on it for around a year now. I don't take it at the same time everyday. And my side effects are: made my boobs get by 2 cup sizes, and made me tired earlier (so instead of falling asleep around 2 am I pass out around 10)

I have the implant right now. But I honestly missed the pill. I felt like with the pill, I at least had normal periods still. Also, I didn't have so many mood swings or acne break outs. It's a pain to try and remember, but it's a small sacrifice.

I was on it for a while. I didn't enjoy having to remember to take it. I'm now on depo provera and I love it.

I've been taking mine for almost 3 months. So darn it's working okish... but it still doesn't really do what I want it to. I take mine at the time at 9:10 every morning, and as for side effects... mood swings, skin break outs, and spotting

It's birth control. You have to take it everyday if you want it to work and I would trust my gynecologist about birth control over Google any day.

I have been to different gynecologists. Yes I have heard of some birth controls being very bad but I have talked with my gynecologist for a good while about that. Not all birth control is the same.

Most women I have seen take it fight with the emotion roller coaster it brings with it due to the hormones. I wish the could make a pill that had less side effects for women and a pill for men as well so women don't have to all the time

There are many different formulations and types. They don't all effect women the same way.

I was on three of four different formulations of the pill for about 15 years before I switched to Nuva Ring. I think it's all been great except, for me, FemconFE gave me breaktrhough bleeding all the time.

I switched to NuvaRing because I only have to think about it once a month.

I used to take it and it actually worked great for me but I decided to stop because there's a lot of side effects (especially if you take it for a couple years) that no one told me about (my doctor obviously told me some, but there's some he doesn't need to tell me) and I just looked up some stuff myself. I just became very aware of medicine in general at that time, now I dont put anything in my body without knowing what is actually in there.
