As long as it's gentle it makes them feel like they have a dominant guy. I'm one of those girls who would only occasionally be into that stuff...I'm a more slow, sensual, romantic type person I guess you'd say? I mean it's not really disrespect when you have her permission..some women really like to be treated worse than that. Sexual humiliation is even a turn on for some people. Not all girls like being rough and having a guy dominate them, but personally I like it. I'm not sure why, it just makes thing more fun and more intense I guess. It wouldn't make you a disrespectful guy if you did that, I had two boyfriends in the past who were really respectful and good guys in general but they still did that even when I wouldn't ask them to. Not doing that wouldn't make you bad at sex, I've been with guys who weren't rough and they were still good at it. I guess it's like a heat of the moment thing.
It gives a sense of the guy being somewhat dominant, without actually being truly abusive. It's just a way to let out the animalistic feelings that might occur during sex. It doesn't always have to be like that, though. Soft and sweet lovemaking has its place too.

Some girls like the sweet, tender, slow guys and some girls like the rougher, more dominant guys. Most of those girls want to be respected in every way during the day but sex is a different part of life and it can be different. Girls want you to listen to them and not have you force your opinion, don't hit (it's the intent and consensus that counts), amongst other things.
