Guys, does watching porn make you view women differently?

Okay, well basically, I really hate porn. I can't help but feel that if a guy sits and watches girls doing all that (usually) disgusting and degrading stuff for money, it will make them have less respect for women in general. I think that porn just makes it harder for both genders to be treated equally. Maybe I'll grow to accept it as I get older (I'm only 15) but right now it makes me kinda upset to think that years ago women fought for their rights and now hundreds of women choose to degrade themselves for men's viewing pleasure. So anyways, back to my original question...does watching porn make you have less respect for women/does it make you see women as sexual objects? Even a tiny bit? Sorry if I sound like a biased ranting feminist.

  • Well I respect women for the most part but I also look at porn. Especially when I was younger. I don't like really weird or degrading stuff I just like to see the nude female body. Its sexual but there is also beauty that transcends sex. I didn't have a girlfriend. I saw a lot of guys taking advantage of younger girls and a lot of girls going out with complete asses that treated them badly, or guys that had money and cars. I was the "nice" guy the "friend". Girls wanted to talk to me about their feelings and ask for help and cry on my shoulder when their boyfriend treated them like crap. They apparently were into kissing and sex because that's what they did with their boyfriends but I guess they never even considered I could fulfill that desire for them. But I had the same sexual urges as anyone else. So I looked at porn and masturbated and imagined things were different. I had to express that I was a sexual being in some way. The girls that always rejected me had no problem flaunting their sexuality in the way they dressed and flirted and talked with their friends. Throughout all this time I remained a nice person holding doors open for people doing favors for people being involved in the community and being a good friend to both boys and girls. Did I dream of banging a lot of beautiful women I knew or saw on the bus or on the internet, yes but it doesn't make me a bad person. After asking out and being rejected by like 40 girls having a girlfriend manipulate me play hot and cold with me cheat on me and break my heart and having a girl who was my best friend break up with her boyfriend turn to me for comforting and then went and had some rebound action with some stupid douche bag who's mommy and daddy bought him a car. I said I am tired of all women kind treating me like some nice little teddy bear. So a day before my 18th birthday I found a number for a "escort" I went to her apartment and I took her clothes off felt her boobs and she took my clothes off we had sex. I was no longer a virgin. Because I didn't want to be a virgin. Being a virgin out of principle is one thing but why be one if you don't believe in it, I'm not a Christian. I went home to cook dinner for my family because my mom had homework and washed dishes. I respect women I came from a woman but I have this strange and yet normal desire to kiss one hold one be inside of one. And nobody wanted to recognize that in a guy who didn't want to crack others bones in football or swear a lot and act rude and "tough". I wish I was in an honest loving and monogamous relationship, and I am sure I will be in one someday. But I was curious and horny and didn't want to be naive and inexperienced, did it make me feel better not really but I am not really feeling guilty either. She put an add in the paper. Told me how great she was at sex and gladly accepted my hard earned money when I handed it to her. Tell me how I am bad or how this makes me some kind of monster

    • I feel the same way. I may have resorted to the same thing, if I didn't have the physical capability that let me teach some douche bag jerk a lesson, that lead to a few girls wanting a one night stand with me every now and then.

  • No. You see every men have a devil on his shoulder and there are certain things that we want to try with our ladies and are just to afraid to asked them or has been turn down by them. In most cases a guy just wants to see his lady naked but she refuses so he turns to some where else for comfort. I have know a couple that has never see each other naked or have never had any other different sexual position than missionary style. While the guy want to experment becuse he was bored so he turn to porn to fill that gap. For me, I just look at porn to see different women or race of girls naked to see the difference in their bodies. Porn or a strip club is the best way to do this without going to a nude beach and have to face with racism or being arrested. Also it helps to answer some questions that we have but cannot asked girls.in addition I think that it helps to know that we are not alone in wanting to try "certain things". Watching porn does not make a guy thinks differently about women it just helps to educated them on some things on what to aspect from girls these days.

  • I think p*rn has something to do with it, but mainly impacts on immature men who actually think that's how women should be treated. I think there are men who can watch p*rn and still treat women with respect, but others really do treat girls like their sex slaves. Maybe more guys would understand if they were the ones being objectified in p*rn

  • I've been looking at it since I was thirteen. I like to think I have enough willpower to not let it affect the way I view women, but I think it's had an effect on me subconsciously. I'm only attracted to girls with looks that are above average and I have to turn girls down that like me based on their looks alone. I have never been in a relationship or even had my first date ever. I feel uncomfortable around women and seem to not be able to accept their sexuality. Don't get me wrong, I have high regards for women, they are people too, with feelings.

    I've wanted to stop watching porn but I can't--it's my only sexual release since girls don't interact with me anyway.

    I do know porn is fantasy and is not the real world, but the fact that my social skills with women are so impaired is proof in itself about what it's done to me.

    I guess, to sum it all up, it hasn't affected me consciously. But subconsciously, it has insidiously poisoned me and made me socially awkward.

    The assumptions of the 'porn is degrading' gambit are ridiculous. Do you think that sex is degrading to women? If not, why should porn be?

    • Most men just don't understand. In porn, the women are treated like nothing but desperate sluts. Usually when two regular people are having sex, they show each other that they love and care about each other. It's not like that in porn. In porn, men are the dominant ones (and you hardly see them on camera, its all about the woman) and women are the ones that are gangbanged, bukkake'd, etc. Porn is obviously part of the reason why women are sexualized in everyday society.

    • They're acting, and if the acting is bad they look bored rather than hurt. I think that playing a gender-cast, squealing princess-wannabe in a romantic comedy about shopping is far more degrading to a woman than recording a banal gang-bang. Surely as a feminist you'd agree?

    Women did fight for rights, but they fought for the rights of individuals. You see the girls in the porn have the right to be there. You do not have the right to deny them the opportunity. If you do not like porn, don't watch it, but don't be trying to infringe on other people's rights.

  • No and you have to understand WHY porn is there to begin with. People (not just men) use it to satisfy their animal desires that they crave. If men didn't have porn then prostitution would go up.

    In which case it probably would make men disrespect women. Pornography keeps the demons of mankind in check. That's just how it is and without it things would be much worse.

But there's also LOTS of men out there who are sexist and treat women like sex slaves for men. You don't think porn has anything to do with that?

    • Hell nO... sexist men will be sexist no matter what... Next you're gonna say rap music is the cause of men degrading women too... I know a lady when I see one.. and I know a girl that doesn't deserve my respect when I see her too.

    • Rap music might not be the cause of it, but calling women "hoes" and "bitches" and having them shake their asses while half naked in the music videos sure does encourage it.
