As an exotic dancer. What's a night at the job like?

  • Hey, this is Enchanted_x3. Snackeyg told me you asked a question I could probably answer for you so here it is-

To be a stripper you need to have an awesome personality, tough skin, GREAT hustle (ability to go up to guys or attract guys and close a deal (get a dance or VIP/champagne room to make $$$) and a good body or pretty face at the very least. Also, you need to be strong to stay away from drinking, drugs and doing "extras" (HJ, BJ, sex for $ which is NOT allowed in clubs).

THIS forum is ingenious and resourceful, it gives you so many tips from dancers in the industry from all over the U.S. link

That said, find a club, if you're 18+, that you want to dance at. Call up the club and say you're interested in auditioning, or better yet, stop in (looking hot) and ask for an audition. Most likely, you'll be placed into an amateur night slot where the manager will see you dance for a set. You get to keep the tips you make on stage and then you will either be hired on the spot or get a call later if they aren't sure. When you go to audition, go in normal clothes and pack a bag with everything you need BUT have your hair and makeup done already (don't bring that stuff with you, it could get stolen while you're on stage or not in the dressing room). In your bag, pack an outfit (this means a regulation thong that does not show your whole ass, that is breakaway so you can step out of it easily in your heels without killing yourself), the highest heels you own or preferably stripper shoes that are sold online (check out StripperWeb forum) for good ones, not too expensive, maybe $35, and they have stripper outfits too on those sites. Get something that fits your body and is not too costumey.

If you don't know how to dance, just wriggle around on stage all sexy. YouTube routines and study them. All that matters is that you look hot and sexy. Think slow and sensual...

A typical night at the club varies from club to club. There are different shifts. At my sister's club there is a 12pm-7pm and 7pm-2am and then an 11am-4pm or something. Most money can be made on the night shift and on the weekends. When you get to the club you are responsible for paying housefees and tipping the DJ, housemom, bouncers (it is required in most clubs and there is a standard fee that you will be told). Anything after that is profit that you keep. Buy a little purse you can keep with you all night so you always have your money with you. Never bring any personal belongings besides a cell phone and cash with you to work unless you get a locker there to keep your things safe. NEVER trust any other girls or anyone with your sh*t. It will get stolen and do not let girls borrow your stuff, like makeup, you will never see it again.

    • On a typical night you may go up on stage 3-4x, there is a rotation and the DJ will announce you by your stage name that you pick. Pick a good one that's not sleazy and retarded like Porsche or Summer, go with something that COULD realistically be your real name. NEVER give a "custie" (customer) your REAL name, address, university, anything that they could use to stalk you or find you. People are creepy. Invent a cover story, memorize it, and stick to it.

    • Never tell anyone what time you get done or what kind of car you drive either. Think smart. Always carry pepper spray with you when leaving too because people will rob you. That's all I can think of right now. That forum, StripperWeb is invaluable and offers much more insight and advice than I have given you on hustling, dancing, other girls, workout, finances, etc, etc, etc.

    • Good luck. Stick to your guns and don't get burnt out, take a break. And SAVE your money. It gets too easy to get caught up in the lifestyle. You don't want to have nothing to show for your hard earned money down the road.

  • I can tell you about New Orleans because I was a porter at one. Most, if not all if the dancers were using coke and/or crystal to keep the energy up all night, & it didn't slow down till it closed around 6 AM. The girls also spent a lot of money on getting their hair and make-up done at the club, but made even more. Coctail waitresses were uncomfortable because they had to have a ladies' tuxedo shirt/blouse, cut the bottom as much as possible but leave enough to tuck it into what was basically like a pair of panty hose. The MINUTE it was announced we were closed, they all breathed a collective sigh of relief & tucked out their shirts...

  • There's a girl on here that has two sisters that are strippers. She could probably answer this really well. She's taking a break from this site I can ask her if you want.

    • That'd be helpful.
