How long do you have to wait to take the pregnancy test?

I had sex two weeks ago and I had sex on Wednesday. I began ovulating on Thursday having sharp cramps. I began to be hot all the time and nauseated. Yesterday I came on my period again when I wasn't suppose to. I was suppose to come a week from now. I'm cramping more than bleeding. This morning I was cramping so bad I couldn't go to work. My breast don't feel heavy no more...my nipples are sore...my stomach looking like a 3 months pregnant and the day I had sex the condom broke and he came. I'm not getting period pains.

  • You have to wait till after you miss your next expected period. You sound like you're getting pregnancy symptoms. You could probably take a test now, but it's not 100% accurate. Take a test in another week. You can also see a doctor. The doctor can give you a blood test that will tell you right away.

    • I'm bleeding less anyway and I'm going tomorrow

    • Some women "spot" they think it's their period, but it's lighter and they spot a few days after the initial sex. I hope all works out for you.

    • That sounds accurate lol

  • You could try taking a pregnancy test now and another in a week or so if the results are negative. But you should definitely see a doctor, because what you're experiencing doesn't sound normal. The doctor can also give you a pregnancy test which will be more accurate and accurate earlier.

    • So you saying the doctor pregnancy test can you tell if you are this early and they said it was but I'm bleeding lesser so I wouldn't call it my period when my mom was pregnant with me she was on her period as well and experiencing everything I am so I don't know its weird lol

    • Well I don't know exactly how far along you are or whether or not a doctor could perform a test that would work for you at this time. I'm just saying that doctors can test you earlier than you can test yourself. You should see a doctor no matter what to make sure everything is okay and to establish your options if you don't already have a plan.

    • Instead of doing a ultrasound they did blood work you can't determine pregnancy if it just happened. You dam sure can't tell by my urine...he did a pelvic exam when I just had one done and found nothing like my other doctor have...so I'm going to my home doctor it was a waste Coming my pelvic has nothing to do with these pregnancy symptoms...

  • Depending on manufacturer of the PT, you can take one 7 days after ovulation. But most recommend after a missed period or 14 days after ovulation - to give your body time to release hCG.

Did you not ask the doctor to give you a pregnancy test?

    • It was early and still is

  • You should see a doctor to be sure.
