Most days of my period are moderate. I have a couple of light days at the end. I definitely have never saturated an entire pad in just an hour. But I'm about to have my first period since getting a Paragard IUD inserted, so we'll see. My flow will probably get a lot heavier.

@xandra248 It's an IUD (intrauterine device) that uses copper to prevent pregnancy instead of hormones. So it doesn't have the side affects that often accompany hormonal birth controls, like weight gain, mood swings, nausea, etc. But it can cause lots of cramping and heavier, more painful periods. It's painful to have it inserted, but you get through it. There are hormonal IUDs that don't cause the cramping and bleeding, but they have other possible side effects associated with the hormones.

@xandra248 Thanks! And no problem. Sexual health is important to me. IUDs are not for everyone, but they are a super effective method and they are much safer than many people think they are. There was a type of IUD in the past that caused some problems so a lot of people have an idea in their head that they're dangerous, but at this point they aren't. Doctors tend to choose IUDs for themselves, so that should tell you something. Just sharing that in case you ever want to consider getting an IUD for yourself.
