One of my sisters caught her friend fingering herself. Her friend is around 12/13, and she doesn't know what to do and neither do I. Is it normal for her to finger herself? And should I do anything?

It it's normal for a girl her age to discover masturtbation. I say an really inappropriate age would be 8 or younger, because The fact they haven't reached puberty yet. It just seems wrong at that age, and it can confusing and scary as well. Technically a girl can discover masturtbation at any age, same goes for a boy.

If your doing it before puberty then its not something thats natural and your learning it from somewhere - id see that as you being exposed to it somehow and thats negative influence ❌

I don't think there is such thing as too young when it comes to masturbation. Sex, yes, there's definitely age that's too young for sex, but masturbation is healthy and does no harm, you're free to do it no matter how old or young you are.

I don't think there is a too young. Even little kids do it, it's pretty healthy and normal for someone to explore their sexuality, and that happens from a pretty young age.

If anything, they hump on things but don't put their fingers on or in their genitals unless taught how to do so by someone. I said 5 yos and children around that age hump on teddy bears & pillows because they don't know better but if I caught my child fingering themselves I would speak with them - not AT them, but assess the situation &find out if there's anything more to it. If not, then fine. But any child displaying certain behaviors needs to be addressed by the guardian and not encouraged - "Yea baby, you're a kindergartner, go ahead &play with yourself all you want!".
