How to Ease the Cramps Without Medication

How to Ease the Cramps (without Medication)

In my opinion, the worst part about periods is the cramps. It feels like someone is raking the blood out of my uterus. The rake has super sharp claws. The person who's raking is aggressive and could care less.

Sometimes, us girls try to ignore the cramps, but it's a lot of hard to ignore them. Don't let cramps ruin your day or your mood. Follow these simple tips, and you'll be temporarily cramp free. No medication required.

Put Something Warm on your Uterus

A warm water bottle, a heating pad, or even just a warm cat or small dog sitting on your lap can temporarily take away the pain. The warm feeling can block pain messages to the brain.

Stay Clear of Sugary Food

Sugars actually affect your menstrual cramps and even your flow. Try eating healthier food such as fruits and vegetables. Watch your sugar intake as well. However, I understand cravings. Sometimes I want to eat Reese's peanut butter cups all day. If you're having those kind of cravings, I recommend that you try to find sugar free chocolate. If you're a chip lover, eat baked chips. They are low in fat.

Exercise!

Exercise is a great way to stay in shape and ease the pain. Being active helpd you forget about the pain. You're more focused on you task and not the sharp claws scraping into the walls in your uterus. Running on the treadmill, jogging around the block, or riding a bike around town is a good way to stay active.

Masturbation and Sex

Yes, these things actually ease the cramps. It might sound messy, but it's actually worth it. Masturbating and having sex makes you feel good. When you feel positive, those stupid cramps don't matter. Who knows, your partner might like it too.

Remain Calm

Stress is not going to help your situation. Stress will make everything worse. Take a long hot bath. Avoid drama. Or even participate in Yoga. If work stresses you out, call in sick. Your boss might understand that your period cramps will affect your job performance.

I hope these tips were helpful. If you would like to add something, do so in the comment section. Good luck!

  • - when it's really uncomfortably or painful down there, I don't want to insert anything into that area. So no sex or masturbation.
    - And no, my boss would never understand calling in sick due to menstrual cramps. I had to work with a sprained ankle two days in a row. And my job is at a coffee shop. So no sitting on my ass 8 hours long. I just tell my boss that I'm gonna be a bit slow because my ankle was still swollen, and she gave me 1-2 minute rests when there are no customers and I asked her for it.

    • That's just wrong

Is this really the message we want to give girls about their periods and going to work? Doesn't this play into the idea of periods being an illness instead of a normal part of life? And wouldn't it give employers reason to not want to hire girls/women for jobs?

  • I'm still gonna say that nurofen zavance is the best. Hot water bottle's don't work for me. Yeah, still gonna say that medication is best.

  • Hot water bottles. Or sex. I always have to take a pain reliever medication called Naproxen. I hate taking pain killers, but I have because of the strong cramp. I only have had one sex partner. On the day I had my period, he saw me crying because of the cramp. He then just carried me to bed then start having sex intercourse. I was freaking out because I think it's messy and unhealthy. He then said it's no problem. OMG! During the sex intercourse, it feels so damn good. After having sex, we both rest. I didn't notice the pain at all. after 15 minutes of resting, my boyfriend asked me how's the pain? Does it still bother me? That's when I realized the pain was gone.

  • I've also found that a good bath stops it and makes you sleepy so you can actually sleep through it

  • I've never tried sex. All the other things only work for a little while.

    • Sex actually does work for me.
