There is nothing wrong with being trimmed, so don't think a guy will automatically hope you will be shaved. I love giving oral so my bias is very much from the stance that I really enjoy it anyway.
Why did I like it - when you go down on a girl, you get turned on by the act itself. I understand the concern. I think there's a lot more hygiene criticism for girls in this aspect. However, as long as you stay groomed and clean, you'll be just fine. Personally, I shave everything.
