I watch porn, does that make me a freak?

I am in college and one of my professors wrote a book about how disgusting and degrading p*rnography is to women...Problem is I watch p*rn and I like it and I'm a girl. Am I a freak? And my friend read her book and was talking about bukkake or watevs and she was so surprised that this stuff happens and she told me like it was a big secret and I had to pretend to be grossed out. SO I guess the question is am I a creepy weirdo? Should I pretend that I don't know anything about p*rn? Am I gross for watching a lot of p*rn and having a vagina and like to watch p*rn?

Another thing too I am a virgin and most of my friends aren't but my roommate this year was like "I don't masturbate that is disgusting why would you touch yourself." and made me feel weird but do a lot of girls never touch themselves. She is going to be 20 by the way and has had sex but thinks masturbation is weird which I think is silly. But is it really that common that girls don't masturbate either?

  • For that matter, there are different varieties of "porn". Not all p*rn is "degrading to women". There's couple-porn, and p*rn-for-women. These varieties are more soft-core, show more nudity and less pumping-action.

In fact, I myself get turned off by hard-core p*rn, and find it repetitive, unstimulating and boring. Who wants to see a guy continually ramming a woman, without the least bit of technique, as if he were some jack-hammer powered by electricity?

Btw, I used to subscribe a lot to the views of feminism myself. But I'm a bit suspicious about this view (by one strand of feminists, not all) who believe that "porn is degrading to women". Can you say romance stories are "degrading to men", because they objectify the male gender as a meal ticket, route to emotional support, prosperity in life, and little else?

Porn should be understood as "fairy tales for adults". We see it, we enjoy it, but we don't necessarily believe in it. Sometimes, when I'm in an aggressive, tostesterone-fuelled mood, I like to fantasize about some bukakke scene, or whatever. In real life, I would never ever want to imitate it, and think it's gross! Probably this appeals to some hidden cave-man side of our personalities. So what?

Incidentally, I've watched p*rn with my partner too. Often, she's the one who gets turned on by big dic*s (and even big breasts!) I don't think this is necessarily an anti-woman position, but just something that turns us on.

Those who say p*rn is anti-women, need to think again. Overall, I think p*rn doesn't cause rapes and sexual harassment to women. Rather, it helps us work off our sexual tensions, and perhaps be in a better mood after it!

    • So is not all forms of prostitution degrading to women either?

  • Here's a book about how wonderful p*rn is, by a woman: link

Here's another, by a woman: link

And here's a website by women, for women...who like p*rn: link

You're not weird, you're not a freak, and you're not alone. You're entitled to like what you like, and to watch what you like. Let no one dictate your tastes to you.

P.S.: Tell your prof to keep her hangups to herself. Better yet, offer to loan her your new books.

  • I don't find anything wrong with watching p*rn and there has to be millions just like us or the industry would not be the size that it is. It is rare that you see a flick which makes the girl look degraded. For the most part they are just doing the same thing we are doing in real life. I do dislike the spanking and force f*cking a girls face and cumming on her face, but other than that it's done pretty much like we do it ourselves.

I personally am totally into interracial (black on white) and have found several places to purchase amateur made films which are done in a very realistic way. Lots of kissing, normal foreplay, and normal kinds of f*king with the guy normally cumming inside her like it should be.

    • It is very normal for most every male or female to masturbate. This quite often starts years befoe actually having any kind of sex with another person. There should never be a time to feel ashamed or discusted with yourself for exploring your own body.

  • no,you're not gross, getting turned on by watching intercourse is normal, human.

and about the whole ''degrading women'' thing, those actresses are professionals, they're doing something that would have to be made anyways, and making it a safe and legal business, unlike prostitution. if you feel like you're degrading women-simply watch p*rn with famous actresses, look up their stories, and if they got into it willingly, because they needed a job or simply love their job-it's okay,it's a job like any other and you're morally ''allowed'' to enjoy their work.

  • I know girls who watch p*rn, as well as myself sometimes. Its not that uncommon and for masturbation, pretty common too. I don't masturbate a whole lot, but do nonetheless. You're very regular! Not a freak!

  • Not weird or freakish at all on either count!

  • im a gal and I love to watch p*rn and I'm rather open about it :) your not a freak

  • At risk of repeating myself:

You're not weird, you're not a freak, and you're not alone. You're entitled to like what you like, and to watch what you like. Let no one dictate your tastes to you.

Tell your roomates to keep her hangups to herself. Better yet, loan her your new book, Nina Hartley's Guide to Total Sex: link

Her take: "I remain convinced that an individual who hasn't learned to please him- or herself is unlikely to please anybody else."

Why? "Masturbation is self- love...and until we accept it as such, we will lack understanding of the sexual activities needed to satisfy our own desires or those of others."

  • We should watch p*rn together sometime

  • The majority of women masturbate, but a lot don't.

    • that's a double negative..

    • A significant minority do not. Say 20%.

  • You're not a freak, you're just a confused college freshmen who had her first run-in with a psycho anti-pornography feminist professor. There's at least one on every campus - take everything she says with a grain of salt because 99% of it is bullsh*t.

Keep watching p*rn, it's normal and totally fine.

  • No, many girls watch it too.Its common. You are not a freak.

  • There's that whole world of kink out there.

Your professor just hasn't found the right p*rn for herself.

    • Geez, my grammar took a hit yesterday. Damn.

  • there is nothing wrong with watching p*rn frequently, a lot of women do. You should not have to pretend to be grossed out that is just their opinion and you are entitled to yours.

  • I think its awesome, I wish I knew more girls that watch p*rn :)

    • would you marry a girl if she were a p*rn star? you probably wouldn't so stfu you rotten bastard

  • Everybody in this world is a critic, some people are just not ready for p*rn yet. You keep watching, what floats your boat.

  • No, you're not gross for watching p*rn. "Professor Prudish" is just a lame guy trying to ruin your fun.

  • actually its extremely degrading to women and if you wouldn't act in a p*rn film then its pretty hyprocritical to watch it yourself, wouldn't you say? everyone who thinks they're making some kind of a statement by proudly proclaiming they love watching p*rn ought to be ashamed of themselves. all it is exploitation of women. and another thing, would you want your sister or your daughter in a film? if that answer is no, which I hope it is, then you have no right supporting that sick industry.

    • I personally wouldn't want to be in p*rnography, that is my choice. IT is a CHOICE in the end to become a p*rnstar, no one had a gun pointed at their head and said you have to become a p*rnstar. I wouldn't want that life for me or my family but in the end it comes down to choice. And who exactly are you the overseer of all sexual enjoyment? To be some puritan calling people perverts is a little high and mighty. When it comes to life there is no such thing as normal including sex habits.

  • No. Your not weird. I'm a guy and I don't like p*rn.

  • I think masturbation is not only very common, but it's also very healthy. It's the safest form of sex available -- even if not promoted as such due to Western cultural taboos against it. You're not abusing anyone here, no chance of betraying anyone or feeling terrible that a person used you. You can do it whenever you want. Only don't get too obsessive over it, or don't let it replace sex-with-a-partner.

  • You're not a freak. I love watching p*rn, my boyfriend knows I watch it too and he doesn't think anything of it really... it's normal.

    • girls can be perverts, too. hence you!

  • You're a freak for being in women's studies.
