Ideal length of time for sex.

The other day I read that sex therapists did a big study and determined that the average woman's ideal length of time for sexual intercourse was between seven and thirteen minutes. They also said that anything over three minutes was still good but anything shorter than three minutes is too short and anything longer than thirteen minutes is too long, which means that four minutes is better than fourteen minutes. What do you think? How long do you want sex to last, how much time do you expect to get, and how long is too long? I'm sure this question has already been asked, but no matter how I phrased the search I just got unrelated hits.

  • at night, an hour or two would be my ideal time length for sex, my ex would last for hours when he was drunk, I think the longest was 4 hours and after the 2nd hour it became more painful then enjoyable. During the day 15-20 minutes of sex sounds good. And morning sex, 5 minutes or so would be just fine. So I don't know it kind of depends for me haha

  • Anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour or so of actual penetration. But with foreplay, a session can last much longer than that. In my most recent relationship, I adapted to going for a long time, so that's what I'm used to. I wouldn't even mind shorter penetration time, providing there was adequate foreplay.

  • It depends if there is no foreplay it might as well be 3 minutes cause I won't cum. But if it's going to be real sex session with foreplay and time to mess around. 20-30 minutes unless we're both feeling really adventurous it can last an hour or 2.

  • People need to be clear about 'total sexual session time' versus 'penetration time'. The study quoted is penetration.

    My wife complains about discomfort beyond 7-10 minutes, though I'm gradually building her up. She normally orgasms sub 5 minutes of penetration.
