In fact if it does tear it can be very serious and it will repair itself in a matter of days. Eventually, after a lot of sex, it will wear away so there, according to that logic you'll be a virgin for a long time yet.
If you want the religious definition? Jeez that's tough, some say a blow job will do it, some say only penis and vagina sex will do it, some say anal sex will do it. Mostly it's whatever you feel is right.
What's most important is that you think ahead and really think about how you're going to feel after you do something, if you're going to be questioning yourself or feeling bad about yourself then don't do it, just wait. It's not that important. Good question! If your hymen has not been broken than you're still a virgin. The hymen can be broken even with your own fingers. I read a book that back in the days a girl is considered a virgen if she has not "inserted" her own fingers or entered any instrument (as a dildo) in her vagina. So, as long as you have not broken your hymen than you're still a virgen, otherwise technically you're not.
