Im really embarrassed about being a virgin at 26?

I'm 26 and still a virgin, and I'm really embarrased about it. I have had lots of sexual offers, but said no every time due to the fact that I don't want to be used or anything. I met this guy who wanted sex with me and I said no and told him I was still a virgin, he then started saying your 26 and still a virgin and he said it in a patronizing manner and took the p*ss and ever since it has made me feel very insecure and worried. What are your thoughts on this? Please help

My last girlfriend told me that over the year she slept with close to 50 guys. Of course she had some issues, and has grown up since then (she's only 25). The thing is, I could not get over it. Needless to say, we are no longer together (not just because of that, but a lot of things)

Before her, I dated a 24 year old virgin. It was like I had found a jewel! She was so sweet and innocent, so much more pure than me. To this day, I wish that we could have made it work.

The point is, a lot of men today will not know how to respond to that fact. But there are plenty of us who can handle that decision respectfully, and value you more because of it.

I don't know where you are looking for men, but that will make a hugh difference in how they respond. Men of the "world" will respond worldly. Men of "morals or faith" will respond in kind.

Remember though, you don't have to tell every man you meet or date that you are a virgin, just don't get yourself into a situation where he is expecting you to sleep with him. Just let them know that you are not looking for pre-martial sex at this point, and when the relationships grows, then share it with him

That guy was a total jerk, and just be glad you never had sex with him.

I am proud of any girl who has a sense of conviction and is smart enough to not be taken advantage of. I'm not saying you should never trust guys (obviously I'm a guy), but some guys really are pigs and you are better than them. Please be proud of who you are and wait until you meet the right guy...or marriage is even better in my opinion. When you meet the right guy, he won't care. He certainly won't look down on you for being a virgin, and he might think it's a good thing. Since you've managed to keep your virginity this long, it'd be a shame to give it to some random loser.

I feel for you I do. I am the same way a 25 soon to be 26 year old virgin. I have never had a date paronize me but I have gotten it enough from others around me to know how you feel. I deal with it this way I just don't tell anyone I am a virgin they can guess all they want but that's it. If A guy want to have sex and you are not ready for it yet you don't have to say you are a virgin. Just say that you are not the kind of girl who rushes into things or you will only have sex in an exclusive relationship that should slow things down and weed out the guys looking for a one night stand without you having to let the cat out of the bag. Then again what do I know.

im not quite as old as you, but I'm 19 and still a virgin and I feel like even being 19 and a virgin is rare these days. I'm embarassed to tell the guy I'm dating that I'm a virgin. I'm definately the same way as you, I don't want to be used. I couldn't see myslef having sex with a guy unless I've been in a long term relationship with him, which has not happend yet. all I can say is good for you, I would be insecure as well, but that's just because the way society is. There is nothing wrong with being a virgin if that's what you want but when are you planning to lose it? You don't make clear if you believe in sex before marriage or has your worry about being used put you off having sex

glad I'm not alone, because I'm 23 and still a virgin, but a girl should not be embarassed because we live in a society in which people, the media laugh at, make fun of virgins, and most importantly, for girls, getting laid is a choice, for guys it's a chore, because we guys always have to initiate and do all the advances.

Look at it this way, at least you don't regret sleeping with some total a**hole you met at a party. Having or not having sex doesn't define a person, but you should really look at this as a glass half full situation. You obviously are looking for The One, not just any horny 20-something who is just out to "get his d!ck wet". So keep those high standards. It's your life. Live by your own rules.

as long as your not some emotionally deranged broken freak bottling up abuse trauma or something, you are fine. most men in their late 20s, who are looking for a long term relationship, and possibly a wife, see virgins as high quality partners.
