Is green discharge/lady cum a bad thing? Is this normal?

Hi there. I'm 20 and have recently been masturbating using dildos. All throughout my life I've just used vibrators on the clit and have had no worries. Today I got a new toy in the post, it's very flexible and comfortable. It had a "straight outta the packaging" smell to it, but I doubt that's whats caused it? I used my usual water-based lube like it says to and used it for about 10 minutes and felt no pain or discomfort at all. Admittedly, I did forget to "clean up" so I guess I've been swimming in my own discharge for about 2 hours. I went to the toilet and noticed I was sticky and it looked a very, very light green colour. Is this because I didn't clean up straight away? It's coming straight from the vaginal opening because when I went a bit deeper to wipe, more of it came on the tissue/wipe. I'm a virgin and I'm hardly around people and I always clean up and look after myself after I masturbate, so this really worries me that the one time I don't, my discharge is green. I definitely cannot contract an STD from using a brand new sex toy, can I? I googled what it meant and everybody said it's an infection but I'm not feeling any pain or discomfort, and it has no smell... Just colour! Please, any advice at all? Thank you so much!

  • Vaginal discharge is most often a normal and regular occurrence. However, there are certain types of discharge that can indicate an infection. Abnormal discharge may be yellow or green, chunky in consistency, or have a foul odor. Abnormal discharge is usually caused by yeast or bacterial infection. If you notice any discharge that looks unusual or is foul smelling, you should see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

    Types of Vaginal Discharge
There are several different types of vaginal discharge. These types are categorized based on their color and consistency. Some types of discharge are normal, but others may indicate an underlying condition that requires treatment.

    White

A bit of white discharge, especially at the beginning or end of your menstrual cycle, is normal. However, if the discharge is accompanied by itching and has a thick, cottage cheese-like consistency or appearance, it’s not normal and needs treatment. This type of discharge may be a sign of a yeast infection.

    Clear and Watery

A clear and watery discharge is perfectly normal and can occur at any time of the month. It may be especially heavy after exercise.

    Clear and Stretchy

When discharge is clear but stretchy and mucous-like, rather than watery, it indicates that you are likely ovulating. This is a normal type of discharge.

    Brown or Bloody

Brown or bloody discharge is usually normal, especially when it occurs during or right after your menstrual cycle. A late discharge at the end of your period can look brown instead of red. You may also experience a small amount of bloody discharge in between periods, which is called spotting. If spotting occurs during the normal time of your period and you have recently had sex without protection, this could be a sign of pregnancy. Spotting during an early phase of pregnancy can be a sign of miscarriage, so it should be discussed with your OB-GYN.

In rare cases, brown or bloody discharge can be a sign of advanced cervical cancer. This is why it’s important to get a yearly pelvic exam and Pap smear, during which your gynecologist will check for cervical abnormalities.

    Yellow or Green

A yellow or green discharge, especially when it’s thick, chunky, or accompanied by a bad smell, is not normal. This type of discharge may be a sign of the infection trichomoniasis, which is commonly spread through sexual intercourse.

    • Thanks, I've already seen this. I was kind of hoping for peoples personal thoughts and opinions.

  • usually, anything that comes from the body and looks green or yellow is due to pathogens in the body, like sneezing is a response to pathogens entering through your nasal cavities, or pee is filtered blood, vaginal discharge is usually white/clear during the month and blood/brown during the menstruation period, any other colors during each period (ex. red outside menstruation period) means infections or inflammation, in both cases you need to check a doctor. it's not necessarily an STD, could be a normal infection because you should clean anything that's new before using it, especially sex toys.

    • Seeing a doctor really isn't an option for me, as silly as that sounds. I'm just going to clean up and take medication a lot more often and regularly and hope it's nothing serious. If in 2 days, I'll face up to it and go doctors.

    • in that case, you need to try and stop maturbating during these days, try to touch yourself and see if your skin is feeling normal or irritated or if there's any pain, also if during anytime you sense any sort of pain you will need to see a doctor immediately (that is unless you're menstruating)

    • I'm infertile and always have been, so I don't know if periods/menstruating and all that jazz is important in this? I have been using a dildo for about 4 days in a row now and using plenty of lube but have always cleaned up and its never been a light green other than today. But I didn't clean for 2 hours as weird as it sounds, I forgot. I'm going to stop masturbating for a while and stay very clean and healthy! thanks for advice.

  • Where did you purchase the toy from? Did you clean the toy prior to use? If it's not a reputable seller and you did not clean the toy, I would assume that it wasn't clean.

Honestly, it's more likely that you got a bacterial or yeast infection from using a less than clean toy or from waiting too long to 'clean up' and less likely that it's an STI. Unless it's a really unreputable seller and the toy was previously used (ew!) I don't see how any STI causing bacteria or viruses could get onto the toy. STI seems quite unlikely. Also, yeast infections are quite common in women, and despite what lots of websites say (white discharge), it is possible for a yeast infection to result in a green discharge. Until it clears up, probably don't use any toys in your vagina. Keep it clean and try to stay hydrated and hope your body takes care of it. If it doesn't show signs of improvement in a few days, I'd recommend going to the doctor, your body may need help (antibiotics or anti-fungal medicine) to help against either a bacterial or yeast infection.

  • maybe if you used it straight out of the oddly, there was some colouring/chemical on it?

  • see a doctor, what Re y whaiting for?

  • Yellow or green discharge indicate infection. Its not STD. Go to the doctor and they will. give you some antibiotics. Its like a yeast infection

    • The doctors is far away from me and I wouldn't be able to go without informing my Mother and bringing her along with her. Could I take any other medication? I only wiped about 2 times and it was kind of dark/orange in the bathroom where I wiped so maybe my eyes were deceiving me? If I had a shower I'd probably be okay, I'm going to assume? Anything could be possible.

    • Well try to keep it clean. Also you can buy coconut oil and rub some on there or eat yogurt.

  • Maybe the instrument you used left some of its color inside your vagina and it maybe that thing only which is coming out.
