I think if I ever had to go to the hospital, I would refuse to let any nurse do anything that would reveal my size to her.

Aww NOOOO, not at all. Medical professionals only talk about interesting medical cases... not about a person's physical appearance. That would be so disrespectful and uncalled for. I have NEVER heard a nurse or doctor speak like that. They have seen every shape, size, color, condition and don't compare. They more than anyone else out there know all the variety in normal. Normal people may be influenced by porn but not healthcare professionals. At a hospital, your healthy body is seen as normal. That's it. Please please please don't feel insecure about your body around docs/nurses. You can request a male professional if they have the option if that makes you more comfortable, but their goal is your health. Make that your goal too.

I'm a nursing student and I haven't experienced that. It is true that nurses will often talk about interesting cases they get, but I've yet to meet one that actually laughs at size. I'm sure they're out there though. I wouldn't refuse to let a nurse do anything that would reveal size though, because ultimately, what she's doing is really going to make an impact on your health. If you were really uncomfortable, you could request a male nurse/PA/doctor. But if people were laughing about your size, it's an indicator that they are not being professional health caregivers, not that you are any less of a person.

Wow sounds like nurses getting way too much credit for keeping peoples secrets, Short answer of course they do. Obviously they are not gonna advertise to the entire hospital, but to co-workers they can trust, ABSOLUTeLY they are humans. After work after couple of drinks with friends its a guarantee they talking about dicks.

And for their patients to know that A) they have more then one patient and B) they are a nurse, not a waitress, and C) they do know what time your pain medicine is due and no you can't request Dilaudid and Phenergan. =)
