Is masterbation a sin?

when I masturbate I feel guilty and I feel uncomfortable but I guess masturbation is now a habit to me. May I get advice? please

It depends on your perspective. If you are of the christian faith I believe some would say it is a sin because you shouldn't be thinking impure thoughts, etc.

If you look at things from a human nature perspective then absolutely it is not a sin. When a person male or female reaches puberty there are all sorts of hormones that are running through your body. It is what helps us to procreate the species by creating a sex drive. Since we can't be having sex every time the notion comes up masturbation is the natural remedy to help curb those feelings.

From an energetic perspective there is a huge amount of energy that is create (if you don't understand what I mean by energy that is okay. It can be a topic for discussion at a later time). If that energy is not allowed to dissipate then it can reach a point at which it will explode. Masturbation allows you to release some of that energy. This is one of the explanations from an energy perspective of why we blow our top. I have read that most sex offenders (i.e. rapists, molesters, not incidental offenders like exposure) have had a very repressed upbringing around sex. It is these people whose energy can't dissipate that ends up channeling into some other direction. Like with lightening that finds the easiest path to escape, the energy in our bodies has to look for an escape also. This can be through the third-eye or the crown if you are looking at chakras and can cause all sorts of erratic behaviors around sex.

So the long and short of it is from my perspective it is an absolute necessity to masturbate or self pleasure. You probably only feel guilty about it because someone more than likely from some religion told you it was bad and wrong. I don't think it is a sin at all and any God who is a loving and caring God I think would recognize that.

I know this that if you feel guilty and uncomfortable about it...and you do it and EVEN THE person who is telling you its okay has SINNED against you because they are not acting out of love and respecting your weak conscience and you SIN against yourself because you violate you conscience...haven't you read 1 Cor 8:9

It also said in ROMANS anything not from faith is sin, and if your not respecting your conviction then it is sin to you!

Masturbation causes a person to sin in their own heart to take sexual gratification from impure thoughts. It is sinful to indulge in this sexual pleasure that is derived from the satisfaction of using one's imagination. If you're masturbating you're going to crave the feeling of a woman doing it more I'm sure. So you're certainly more prone to be more addicted to sex and have sex before you're married. You will never find the word masturbation in the bible, but there are keys scriptures in the bible that lets us know that masturbation is wrong. Matthew 5:28 Jesus says, "Do not commit adultery." But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Adultery is not only the physical act, but adultery can also be committed in the mind. Masturbation involves sexual fantasy, visualization, and often pornography or x-rated videos. The Bible is very clear as to what God expects of us in these areas of fantasy and lust. It teaches that we must not look lustfully at each other nor should we behave in such a manner as to entice others to lust after us. As one grows in his dependence upon God, one will learn that he can only be victorious when God himself delivers him. This applies to all temptations, anxieties, or addictions!

Bullsh*t! The only thing that causes masturbation to be a problem is how the individual negatively perceives and handles the situation. Masturbation can be a positive, therapeutic, and healthy thing if done properly and in moderation. Sex can be a very beautiful thing. It all depends how the individual handles the situation. Its like red wine for example if you drink it in moderation then its fine, if you over drink then you are in trouble.

Would you say the Bible is shy or vague on what it states is or isn't it's in? Do you feel God found ways to sugarcoat certain things as being sinful? I know my Bible well and one thing it definitely is not is it vague or sugar coats anyting it's stating as a sin. If masturbation was a sin I believe it would be clearly stated just as all the other hundreds of sins are clearly stated. All the sins listed in the Bible leave 0 question as to whether or not it's a sin. I don't believe that masturbation is a sin too and just so happens to be the one and only sin God decided to sugar coat to a degree that it would leave it open to such question or controversy. You are saying you believe that by masturbating you are more prone to other sexual immoralities that are definitely sins, & therefore masturbation is a sin? But I would argue that NOT masturbating would cause most men to have sexual urges that would far surpass the urges he may get if he DOES masterbate! I think if masturbating causes one to stumble into sexual immorality then they should avoid it! but if some feel masturbation is what helps keep them from engaging in premarital sex or other sexual sin, I believe God I would want them to take whichever route would best keep them from committing sexual sin.

You're right though that committing adultery or having impure thoughts in your heart is as bad as acting upon it, the question though is would a man be more likely to have these crazy Sky High sexual thoughts and urges in his heart if he is masturbating regularly or if he never masturbates? Keep in mind also that just because one masterbates it doesn't necessarily mean they are having sexually immoral thoughts. When women masturbate a lot of the time we just focus on how good it FEELS, not everybody is actually thinking about sex or another person in a sexual way. What if someone is thinking about love and sex the way God intended for it to be? What if one masturbates to the idea of their future self someday being married and making love to a godly woman, God's way? Even with that thought being as serious as actions, if its about doing things God's way then wouldn't it be equivalent to acting in God's way? Adultery and fornication aren't masturbation. Bottom line to me is God does not shy away from making himself very clear on all send especially sexual sin, if masturbation was a sin don't you think it would just say so like all the rest? We shouldn't do anything that could cause us to stumble and God knows our hearts so honestly it probably depends on the person and what's going on in their heart when they do it, which is why instead of the Bible just clearly stating that masturbation is wrong, it instead only speaks to what sexual immoral thoughts we are committing in our hearts and Minds.

Sin is a belief created by religion to stifle us from natural human acts.
No it is not a sin.
No "god" will not punish you... because you will have to ask which one of the thousands of them it would be.
Natural sexual desires and instincts are nothing to be ashamed of and our society does a great job of doing that.
People can quote you "scripture" which is merely human created doctrine from the bronze age and tell you it is sin, but any human with logic will know that back then they used these methods of cohesion to scare people into doing or not doing certain things. The fact that it still is used is sad. We know better than to belief in fairies, tree gods, and other mythological creatures... we shouldn't be hanging on to this one either. But some people are to afraid of the unknown and need to believe in something, even if it doesn't make logical sense. I am more of the mind set that if I don't know... I will ask questions and find answers, not just chalk it up to a supernatural deity.

It doesn't talk about masturbation that I could see. So go for it! I mean, I do it about 3 times a day. No on ever risked pregnancy or STD's when masturbating.

looking at others girls I'm thinking maybe I'm doing it too much! it can be six times in one day if I feel like it - that ain't rare for me...

i am single but even when I'm in a relationship I still masturbate everyday.

i can think of worse things to do with my time :-)

No, not according to the bible.. contrary to what many Christian religions may teach. I have read my Bible cover to cover multiple times and nowhere does it say anything about masturbation being a sin.

From a religious point of view it's a sin because you're having "impure" thoughts. From a realistic point of view, it's as natural as breathing.

If it wasn't for masturbation do you have any idea how much more rape, child molestation, and sexual crimes there would be? Seriously I would rather masturbate than losing my mind and go out to forcefully have sex with someone to gratify and remove the stress and tension we get when we need to masturbate.

Depending on your religious belief or lack thereof, masturbation could very well be a sin. I'm not religious, so I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Many many many other people don't think that it's a bad thing either.

As for feeling guilty and uncomfortable, I personally don't like to masturbate that much, but, due to stupid human nature, I do it anyways. I feel bad afterwards and I can't really understand why, but I just do. I don't think it's guilt, I just don't like to.

So it's up to you whether or not you do it, if you feel its a sin, then don't do it, if you feel like most people that it's natural, then by all means do it, if you just don't feel good after doing it, well, then you can choose whether or not you want to continue doing it.
