Is period suppose to be stinky for a normal woman? Is sweet smelling period normal?

Guys, this may be a little disturbing but this question is for women. My mom never talked to me about body health in depth, and I never really brought it up to her. But many women including my friends and other girls have mentioned how period smell is strong and stinky and how its normal to be a little smelly when on your period even if you wash. Luckily, I dont have that problem. As long as I wash at least once in the morning I can't smell anything when I have my period. Even my pads dont smell and the longest I ever had to go wearing the same pad was almost 5 hours because I couldn't leave my position at work for even a fee minutes (the bathroom was too far away and it was too busy for me to just up and leave) and even that pad didn't smell bad it smells like nothing and after the day goes by it begins to smell just a tad sweet, a VERY light aroma of sweetness. Of course, I do have to make sure I take a nice shower in the morning especially during my period, showering is the key as I would do on any regular day. But in the morning before I shower there still isn't much of a smell when I remove my undies they always smell really sweet. Other girls have told me it is normal for periods to stink or be fishy smelling no matter if they bathe or not and I never wanted to make anyone feel bad by telling them I dont have those symptoms bc I dont know if my body is the norm or if there's are. Actually, all my vaginal fluid smells sweet like a very light aroma I can't explain but its a sweet smell. Is that normal? by the way I dont bathe more than once a day I heard overbathing can make you smell generally worse. My personal hygeine is good but I'm not super duper picky about taking a shower when I am not leaving the house some days I just brush my teeth and stay in my pjs (but I never go two days without showering or I will stink like anybody).

  • 😂😂😂 i can tell u from what my experience with my sibling it can smell, but only in the bathroom. Smell from lower body are usually covered up by clothing and unless it's a really hot weather where hot air raise to bring up the smell, (given the source is a form of mositure). people usually can't smell whatever there is to smell lol.
    Can't explain the sweet stuff but doesn't sound too bad lol.

  • Yes, period smells like death to me as well. But I guesd something has to die in order for something to be born. And ladies give birth so this is a normal process I suppose. Don't sweat it.

    • Whose period have you smelled that smells like death? Was it like a sister, girlfriend or your mother or someone else? Or was it multiple women? I just want to know where you got the idea it smells that bad from? And I am seriously asking, not trying to bash anyone just curious.

    • Oh, no offense taken. "All of them". And a few girl friends as well. Some weren't too terrible but the majority of them could turn stomachs. I mean cartwheels!

  • My periods don't smell bad either, sure I sweat really bad when I'm on my period but if I use enough deodorant no one will even know, I've asked siblings before if they have ever smelled my periods and none have. Even after going all night and not changing my pad.

    I just assumed everyone was like this. And I get what you say about it kind of smelling sweet.

  • Discharge from your period can have an odor, but it's usually only detectable by the person themselves. If it smells foul, then I would get it checked out because it could be a sign of an infection.

  • Yeah it can, depends how heavy your flow is too. It can smell fishy. Although I never notice it when I’m wearing a tampon. When on your period make sure to bathe everyday!

  • Sex in general can have a musky odor that is stronger during your period.

  • Any smell coming from a woman's flower is supposed to have a light smell. As long as your smell is slight, you're good!

  • It’s not supposed to smell bad or fishy df? Your friends are gross! My period has a light scent and I get what you mean about it smelling sweet. I notice that sometimes too.
