First, porn is a pretty big bucket. If I understood your question to mean, say, gay male porn, the question wouldn't make much less sense.
Even if we need to assume, however, that we're discussing heterosexual porn, we still have a big bucket. What if it's fetish porn? Is porn with nude women smoking degrading? Is it more or less degrading than foot-worshipping? And where does amputee porn fit in all this? Midget porn? Femdoms? Amazons?
And what does "degrading to women" mean, anyway? Does it make women less valuable? I don't see how that works, or how women become more valuable once porn disappears.
Does it make women appear less valuable? I still don't see how that works. Porn doesn't affect how I see the women in my life, or how I deal with them. If it does, then I'm f*cked up; the porn's fine.
Does it make the women in the porn appear less valuable? Nope. Again, if it does, if I'm warped and immature enough to start judging actresses by who they are on camera, then this is not the actress's problem, but my own.

I think it can be specially, when the girl needs to do it for money. I've heard of girls doing it, because she needed to pay the bills and take care of her younger siblings in a poor country. There were no jobs available, and someone offered her lots of cash for a p*rn video.
In this case I guess she has no choice, starve or do p*rn and survive another week or two.
It depends on what kind of porn. If it's a rape 'fantasy' or involves some kind of abuse, then I'd say yes. Pretty much everything else, No.
And if it's degrading for women, it sure as hell is degrading for men, if you think about it. Guys having to result to calling hookers, or f****ing porn stars just to get their jollies on a daily basis? It's a bit sad to me, no matter what sex acts the women (or men, sometimes) are told to engage in.
I have no problem with pornography that is within the confines of the law, but I think that degradation goes both ways on this one. Women are just easier to point the finger at because they're the center of attention.
Someone wrote that women sign up for it and get paid for it but if I am to understand your question you are asking if it is degrading to women in general not just for the porn stars themselves. The women who get paid for it I am sure are fine with but for the rest of us who don't get paid for it I think it is degrading because most of it portrays the man having little or no respect for the woman. I think it gives unrealistic notions that men can treat woman like sh*t in bed because that is what they want not really caring what she wants.

Well, what about the fact that most p*rn portrays men as essentially faceless, inconsequential stunt dicks? I think most people can count on their fingers the number of men in p*rn with any kind of stardom or name recognition, while women are the stars and make far more money than the men.
not all is.. there are some of rape and ect.. and those I get a little angry about.. that people are getting off at a girl being abused. and child pornography. but just regular porn.. with no obvious social issues isn't degrading. I have no objections

Girls can and should say no if they have the slightest objection to something regarding sex. also I do agree that it gives guys higher expectations than any girl can live up to, but so does the media and what they see everyday. to say that porn degrades women is to say that tabloids, beauty contests. the ideal women drives more women crazy than a guy jizzes on a girls face, so porn doesn't affect women as much.. of course opinions can vary..

I guess its more of a what an individual thinks. Me for one I love Porn I even love the degrading ones but' doesn't mean I think any less of Women it only make me want is degrading sex but, I I a very high sex drive having person considered to be a little freaky as as said by the the one people call freaky but, I guess it's how you think on porn the only degrading porn is porn meant to be degrading and tats only to that person and that's barely because they love it.
i voted yes, but I think not all of it is. there is some really hot porn where the girl is actually being pleased. and that's nice to watch. if she's just used as a hole, then that's a major turn off

Nope it's not degrading to women. They're paid to do it, they sign up for it and willingly participate in it. If it's degrading for the women then it's degrading for the men too.

Not inherently, no, though it certainly can be in specific instances.

I voted no because women aren't forced to participate in porn, nor is anyone forced to watch it. It's not supposed to be a realistic interpretation of sex either. I also believe that if porn was considered degrading to women then it would also be degrading to men. Different types of porn portray different ideas of women and men- some people consider it degrading, some don't.
