Is it rude for houseguests to have sex?

Do you think it's rude to allow a couple to spend the night and they have sex in your house, possibly within earshot? As a houseguest, do you go full speed ahead, try to be quiet or abstain for your stay?

  • The way I see it, there's no black and white answer for this. A lot of it depends on the sensibilities of the hosts, the nature of the relationship between guests and hosts, and everyone's level of expectations.

For example, I'm a pretty open-minded guy. I understand sex is an important part of the human condition. If I like and trust someone enough to sleep over in my home, then I don't mind if they have sex even if I overhear them. When I say, "make yourself at home", I mean it.

Whatever your situation is, think of it this way... if you are the guest, would having sex in your host's home possibly offend your hosts? If you like your hosts enough to care what they think but are unsure their views on people having sex in their home, then it's probably better to err on the side of caution.

    • i totally agree -- I like this answer -- very well said.

  • It depends on how close they are. If my brother and his wife were staying with me, I wouldn't care what they got up to.

And there are several friends of mine, who if they were staying over, I wouldn't care if they were loud or whatever.

  • Me agree with Belgie)) deal is in next - if you trust to homemasters and not afraid or expect some envy and anger - why not? All that good is good.

  • Probably so, yeah. It's just silly to be f***ing in someone elses house for some reason. Be considerate of the noise and the fact that it's not a vacation home but a home that belongs to someone else.
