ladies just wondering does it hurt when you're having your period?

I have a odd reaction. The blood coming out isn't painful at all, but I get cramps on my lower stomach, my back, down my thighs, feels like my uterus is just twisting inside me. I loose a lot of blood so I get very exhausted to the point I'm usually home in bed the whole week. I also turn into another person, I'm a very sweet shy girl but around my period time I won't hesitate to go off on anyone. I once flipped off a car, punched my locked at work, have yelled at people etc . I'm now on birth control which has helped all of that, now all I suffer from is some light bleeding hear and there but it's nothing compared to what it was

Every girls periods is different.

My mom only got her period for 2-3 days , it was light and she never felt any pain.
When I talk about heavy cramps she can't relate.
I have my period for 7 days.
For the first 4 days I feel the most pain and it is the heaviest.
When I first started getting my periods I would get physically sick (throw up, and not be able to get out of bed).
Now that I've had my periods for so long, I can tolerate the pain.
It doesn't hurt has much.

yeah sometimes cramps can be super painful. the actual bleeding part isn't painful. just the cramps and backaches and bloating sucks sometimes. and the emotional pain, oh god. some girls pms so bad and get extremely moody. it's different for everyone. some people get severe cramps, some don't.

1st day is like hell. Hell.
All these cramps and freaking everything just flowing out like a waterfall from Venezuela. The rest few weeks are filled with pain that slowly subsides as the cycle ends.
Does it hurt? Yes. Mucho. But some people are different, it varies.

It doesn't hurt but I have heavy legs. Though for many women it hurts like hell. A friend once told me she felt like she was being stab over and over again.

Yes. The actual bleeding doesn't hurt, it's not like a cut or scratch. But we get cramps in our backs and abdomens, and sometimes our boobs get sore. A very select group of women don't have painful periods. I envy them!

Yeah most of us get cramps. But it differs from person to person. Some girls get really bad cramps, like your stomach hurts to the point that you can't walk, or just mild cramps.

I've had some where all I could do was to literally curl up into a ball and cry. Mind you that wasn't the typical ones and those type only come occasionally. Most of the time it's just an annoying pain.

Sometimes, depends.. Sometimes it's easy to go through pain-free, then there are other times where the cramps can be so painful that it will make you want to puke. :|

The uterine contractions yes (for the first day or so) but the actual blood coming out no that doesn't hurt.

The blood coming out doesn't hurt but I can feel my uterus contract and it hurts my back and my legs and stomach and it's painful as hell

Only like a thousand knives digging into my back and abdomen. With no idea as to when it will come and go away during the week and how bad each time will be.

To sum it up, it really sucks. And pills don't always work.
