If she doesn't already, she should try taking an NSAID to help with pain relief, like ibuprofen (Motrin), or naproxen (Aleve). Sometimes using a hot pack on her abdomen or back might also help relieve pain. Also, if she isn't already on a prescription birth control pill, it might be worth looking into, as for many women, it helps to decrease the amount of pain they experience during menstruation.
If she's experiencing severe pain and over-the-counter pain medications don't help, she should probably see her doctor about it to rule out things like endometriosis, fibroids, or pelvic inflammatory disease.
As far as things that you can do, well, it already seems like you're being very supportive of her. Other than that, just ask her if there's anything you can do to make her feel better. There are also nonpharmacological things that can help people deal with pain. You could suggest and/or help her with these things if she wants to try them: things like distraction, massage, music, and deep breathing.1 1 0 0Aww,that's so sweet of you to worry about her like that:-)
I know what she means,I have horrible periods. The cramps are horrific and painful as hell,so painful ibuprofen, naproxen and acetaminophen no longer worked to stop them,I had to take Hydrocodone(2 500 mg) and pepto bismol to stop the severe stomach cramping and diarrhea(sorry, nasty but true)...and I continuously threw up non stop.
Anyways...you could always try bringing her some Midol or Naproxen.
One trick that might help her,is tell her to take either Ibuprofen or Naproxen 2-3 days before her period. It can help prevent them from being as strong.0 0 0 1Sure you mean 5/500mg hydrocodone/APAP? 500mg of hydrocodone would kill a non-opiate tolerant person. I'm jealous of you people living in the US getting synthetics like candy...To get hydrocodone in the UK you'd have to have VERY good reason, certainly not period pain. I mean let alone, oxycodone is ONLY prescribed to cancer patients.
Ni 500 mg haha.I am pretty tolerant to most drugs.eh... My mom gets them because she has bad back problems and the doctor would constantly give it to her.she has bottles and bottles of it but doesn't use it.She gave me a bottle because of my periods. Now I'm on birth control so I haven't touched hydrocodone in a long time
If her periods are painful to the degree where it makes her cry, she needs to see a doctor. It might be just her bad luck to have painful ones, but there is always a chance that there's a medical problem. Sleeping with her won't make the pain go away, I don't think she would even be in the mood to have sex between terrible cramps. Honestly speaking, non-prescription painkillers will probably do jacksh*t for her pain, taking paracetamol and iburofen would be unlikely to work. I'm surprised her mother never noticed that she is in that much pain that she cries...

If it hurts extremely, she should go see a doctor. After researching Webmd, they recommend that she could take ibuprofen, such as Advil. She could also put a heating pad (set on low) or a hot water bottle on her belly, or take a warm bath. Heat improves blood flow and may ease the pain. Other options are lying down and putting a pillow under her knees, or lying on her side and bringing her knees up to her chest. This may help relieve back pressure.
Use pads instead of tampons. This may help if you also have vaginal pain.
Get regular exercise. This helps blood flow and may reduce cramping.
I also have read that taking birth control pills may allay the pain. However, the best option for her is to talk to a doctor.4 0 0 0

4 0Well, the reasons that her period might hurt is because her period is too. . . how can I say it, heavy? Like the flow in blood, if it's too heavy, she can take birth control pills to lighten the blood and heaviness of her period. It'll also make the period days shorter than usual.
0 0 0 0thats so nice of you to try and help but to be quite honest - most of us cry ! it kills and several girls in my classes have fainted because of them - the best thing is to get a hotwaterbottle , some green tea or hot water with lemon , and take A LOT of IBprufen (but don't overdose xx) I'm from the uk though so we are not ALLOWED prescription pain pills for periods because all our doctors a f*** sh*t men who know nothing about the pain xx
0 0 0 0Thats so cute that you want to help her. Do you ever spend any time with her? Something my boyfriend always does is give me massages. My body aches pretty much everywhere during my period, especially my lower back and feet. Every chance he can get while I'm on my period he'll massage me for like 10 minutes, and I always feel a lot better.
0 0 0 0Tell her she should take Ibuprofen a couple of days before her period comes on.
