Playboy... Should it be banned ?

Do you think playboy should be banned or some serious actions must be taken against it ? Sara Jean Underwood , a playboy model used "yoga" in a nude photoshoot , which hurt a lot of people's culture . Anyways , the site is damn useless and makes money which is totally too much for it to deserve , according to me . What are your views on the site ?

Yoga is originated from India and it has some religious views on it and nudity is considered bad in India , so its "pathetic" to use yoga to perform nude shoot .

  • Honestly, what in the world does banning something do? It certainly doesn't prevent it from happening or stop everyone knowing about it, it just attaches a little stigma to it and (for some people) makes it slightly more appealing because it's forbidden.

I'm sorry some Indian people were insulted, but really, if nudity is an unacceptable form of expression for them, then perhaps they should avoid Playboy or any other publications whose main purpose is to expose the body. Yes, I understand Yoga is an important part of their culture, but nothing was taken from their culture because of the model's use of it in a playboy shot, it's still as sacred as it always was. Besides, nobody has exclusive rights to any culture or religion and they have to realize that as information and culture are spread across the world, things are going to be expropriated and incorporated into other cultures in different ways. It takes nothing away from the original culture and if we tried to determine which actions/objects/beliefs belong to which culture and how they can be used appropriately by outsiders it would be a nightmare, not to mention utterly foolish and pointless. No need to ban playboy, if you're not a fan (I'm not) then don't read it, subscribe to it, visit the site etc. Simple.

  • Playboy has every right to do what they want. There's no way using yoga in a shot is offensive. There are probably guys out there who get turned on just by watching women do yoga, most of the clothes people wear for yoga are skin tight anyway so in playboy's eyes I can understand why they just decided to get rid of them all together. Sex sells, playboy isn't doing anything wrong, if you don't like it then don't look at it.

  • well I'm sorry if people were ''hurted'' by it but it really isn't a big deal, playboy puts smiles on many faces daily,it shouldn't be banned

  • If some naked lady doing yoga in a Playboy photoshoot offends you, my god, what the hell is wrong with you. I can hardly get my head around how parochial and hypersensitive that is. Yoga is a worldwide phenomenon now and as been for some time. It makes no comment on India to be using it in that manner.

Besides, Indian sexuality is not always that repressive clearly -- you guys did come up with the Kama Sutra, am I right?

    -----

Playboy is a little sleazy though, I kind of agree with you there. But I don't think they need to be shut down. Free market economy and all that.

    • It didn't offend me , read the question carefully .

    • Who said I am an Indian ? Anyways , Kama Sutra did originate from India .

    • Well you say it hurt a lot of people's culture -- I guess not your culture though.

  • playboy sucks. you can find anything on the internet these days. as for the "naked yoga" thing I'm sure there's allot of nudist groups that do yoga.

as far as I know they do all kinds of activitys in those pictures like play pool, surfing, danceing, laying on a bed. so should playboy be shut down because people who play pool would be offended? NO!. it's culture even for naked/porn people. I know everyone who plays pool or does yoga isn't a hot naked chick/dude. so get over it it's just yoga.

  • Wait, what are you getting sensitive about now? I don't think I'm understanding the problem here..

    • I read about it in a newspaper and I wanted to hear people's opinions ... people seem to misunderstand me lol . I don't want to ban playboy lol , I asked because I read that some people would revolt it .

    • Oh I gotcha. Well yeah, my thought of them is that they being dumb things. If they don't like it...don't look at it. Genius concept for them, isn't it? :)

    • lol yh . Atleast someone can understand me lol .

  • I don't believe in banning things. "If you don't like it, don't read it" is a firm rule for me.

  • Playboy is sh*t, there's thousands of other p*rn sites... taking one off isn't going to do anything fyi... and who really care about other cultures... MMMMERICAAA FUK YEAHHH

  • If she was Indian they wouldn't care

And the yoga in the west is different to the east

What would it do if it's banned, that's just stupid

  • f*** no. It should not be banned. So many cultures need to stop being so butt hurt if they find it a problem. You know what you can do? IGNORE IT!

  • If you want to bann Playboy, then you have to bann many, many other magazines. A lot of them are trash and full with gossip.

  • i think it's fine as it is. I mean I'm not a subscriber but I support people's rights to view it

  • Freedom of Speech & Expression aren't here to protect what you want said/seen, its here to protect the things you don't want heard/seen.

  • im sure she wasn't the first person to do that

  • Watching naked chicks do yoga is awesome! I pretty much go to yoga class solely to see some of the hot bodies in revealing/tight clothes in some great positions. I managed to score a date with a hottie last week, which went very well. Hopefully next weekend we'll be doing some naked yoga of our own!

  • freedom of expression is one of the KEY things for democracy. You cannot and should not just go banning things because you think they don't deserve it or make too much money. If so then maybe look at other people/companies who make far more money and do a lot less!

    • It hurted a particular section of people , which to me is wrong .

    • hurted isn't a word! but many peoples actions hurt and offend others. Yoga is not a religious right or anything, it is an activity which people carry out. People are currently fighting and dying for freedom of expression, and you are willing to/wanting to ban a website because they did yoga which "you found offensive"?!

    • LOL . hurted is a word ! Google it :P Anyways, yoga is originally from India , which has some religious views based on that , and nudity in India is considered bad , so using yoga to perform nude is just " completely bad "
