I would suggest aloe vera gel (100% pure, not one of those perfumed concoctions). It has excellent healing and soothing properties for cuts and irritation as well as burns. It's saved my life on several occasions.
If you do have any desire to try shaving again, make sure you're shaving WITH the direction of hair growth (not against it) even if it prevents you from getting as smooth a shave. (It will feel smoother in the long run.) Also soak in a hot bath or shower before shaving, use a sharp, quality razor, and find a good shaving cream. Avoid foams, because they are just full of air, which is a terrible lubricant. I like Cremo Cream shave cream. And don't apply too much pressure while shaving.
If you don't, that's fine. As long as you are clean and tidy nobody can fairly complain. I don't shave there (well, not regularly) and my boyfriend is fine with it. I simply trim. I think it's a perfectly reasonable compromise.1 0 0 0By the way, in the spirit of education, your vagina has no hair. Your vagina, labia, clitoris, etc are all part of your vulva. When you shave down there, you are shaving your vulva/ labia.
I don't think there's any point in shaving if it's not going to feel soft & if you shave in the direction the hair grows it feels spikey. I think I will just trim from now on. Shaving isn't worth it.
Perfectly fine! I'm not trying t o convince you to shave or anything. Those are just guidelines in case.
Get a washcloth and run it under cold water and let it rest on that area for a little bit. If you have any aftershave or deodorant, you can apply that around your vagina too (according to the Cosmo I read today).
1 0 0 0It'll probably get smoother the more you shave it. But that is your choice. I used to shave regularly but then I stopped because I found it pointless. :P

If you had long pubic hair and then went straight to a razor that is bad! You need to trim it really really short before shaving with a razor and even then the first time there is lots of irritation but after that what you want to do is use a lot of shaving cream, only go over each area once and if you need to do it again use more shaving cream first and only go one direction with the razor. Do not ever shave up, down, left, right, to get smooth because you'll end up with a ton of razor bumps, just go one direction every time and stick with it because even if there is a little roughness left over after it's better than a ton of razor bums and being itchy. I learned all this from shaving my face but the same rules apply to a vagina just like any area of the human body.
Good luck :)1 0 0 0No I have been shaving for about a year but I usually only do it once a week to let my skin recover and for the hair to grow out a bit before I do it again, but this time I shaved 1 day after shaving because I hate the feel of stubble and it really irritated my skin. I am fed up with shaving. There's no point because it doesn't even feel soft, all you can feel is little spikes of hair. I will just trim from now on.
To be honest I doubt most guys care as much as you think if you just trim it anyways, ==) Do what you have to do. I never shave two days in a row on any area of my body it's just asking for a burn! The little spikes you're talking about always happen to me also so it's like a never ending pointless battle! LMAO
1. Your grooming habits down there should depend on what you find attractive, not what you think guys find attractive. If you have a regular partner, and he has some preference, it's OK to take him into account, but it's primarily a matter of how you feel with your vulva. Not how others feel.
2. If YOU do want to have less hair down there, then instead of shaving you may want to consider getting a trimmer. Leaving your hair shortly trimmed is more aesthetically pleasing to some, but won't irritate the skin as much.0 0 0 0

1 7No hair down there would be a complete deal breaker for me. I like to give oral sex and I can see where some of the comments have come from regarding hair in your mouth but hey what is a little hair at the end of the day? We all have it!
Do not shave it all off, just trim it a little and neaten it up. Pubic hair is a sign of sexual maturity - therefore pubic hair is sexy. Any guy who makes you shave when it gives you that much pain is just not worth it - find someone who cares about your health more than he cares about his sex life!2 0 0 0So just be comfortable with however you shave it. I assure you, we guys that aren't shallow idiots love it still.
0 0 0 0There are still quite a few of us that prefer hair..and I am one...(:
2 0 0 0baby powder
2 0 0 0I'm not so sure about that...
So, it can be good because it absorbs moisture? But I would be wary if you're already irritated. I feel like it would clog pores or something.
It's meant for prevention.
I agree I like hair

1 0 0 0I don't shave down there for the same reason. I get all red and stubbley and it's not attractive and it's painful. I wax around the sides/butt area and trim up the rest. I've never had a guy complain.
1 0 0 0Some have mentioned baby powder or aloe vera. How about something with alcohol in it - like hand sanitizer? Fire crotch!
(I'm just kidding. Do NOT do this.)0 0 1 0
