Statistically: What percentage of guys leave when they get a girl pregnant?

I'm not talking about breaking up, but actually leave the mother to raise the child on her own. Also if the the girl is just some random hook up why are guys more likely to not want to be involved with the child?

I'd reckon a lot of guys would just freak out, especially if they are still young and aren't ready to be a parent and have all this additional responsibility. In the end its the girls choice whether she wants to keep it or not, guys are a bit frustrated with it as they have no say in it 90% of the time and just have to go along with it.

The reason statistics would be high would be because(relationships);

1) Guys keep their rationality and if they aren't financially stable, they won't be open to the idea of having kids with someone.

2) They are young a lot of the time(in the scenario they'll run), they like their life and simply aren't ready to settle down and leave their social life and the like behind.(which is just the case for young parents)

3) Guys rarely have a say in the matter, its 95% of the time the girls decision whether or not she'll keep the baby or not. It's a life changing decision and girls shouldn't be allowed to make the decision by themselves as it affects both. I'm well aware that she's the one with the baby inside of her but there's always the option of giving it up for adoption or abortion.

Most guys that have hook ups, aren't looking to settle down with a girl and have kids or haven't found a girl that they've actually wanted to settle down with. Considering the mother was a hook up and nothing but that, I can understand that guys wouldn't really want to "fake" a relationship that simply isn't there.

Personally besides financial support, I doubt I'd be involved when it comes to a hook up pregnancy as it was HER choice to keep the baby. In a relationship it would be a completely different case however.

So you'd pay child support, but wouldn't want to be actively involved in the childs life.

If it was a hook up and nothing more then that, yes. I'm well aware it sounds harsh but the way I see it(towards the kid) I'm the good guy on this. My father never wanted kids and he always showed it in the way he interacted with me. I would've been better off without him because then at least I wouldn't feel unwanted, I would've just been curious who my father is.

You never know. you may actually love your kid. I'm sorry about your dad, but lots of people have sh*tty parents and end up being great parents one day. i understand that you wouldn't want a relationship with the mother, that's understandable, but the child is innocent in all of this. Many guys end up loving kids they never even wanted in the first place. Keep in mind that child would be half of you. It's not just some piece of trash. But that's just my opinion.

If your boyfriend/guy you slept with says he has no interest in raising a child with you, then it was your choice to keep it and raise it by yourself which is fair enough as they both made their decisions about it. I know I will be a great parent one day, I've already had the practice with my little niece who made me reconcider having kids all together. When I have kids, I want to have kids and not just a kid on the weekend/holidays which would be impossible without being in a relationship.

You can still be a good parent and only see your kids whenever you can. it doesn't necessarily have to be on weekends. and getting and abortion/adoption isn't as easy as it sounds. I know your a guy and haven't ever dealt with actually getting one, but I can assure you it's not a good feeling. most girls who've had them end up regretting them and suffer mental anguish over it. it's easy for a guy to say get an abortion or give it up because they're not physically attached to the child.

Its not about being a good parent or not, its not the life I want for both myself and my kid as I know I'll have a hard time with raising my kid that way, mostly emotionally The later depends on the person, I know a girl who had an abortion before because it was the smart thing to do in her situation.She never looked back and is happy she made that decision in a bad situation And because we don't know what its like to have something feel inside of us, we can make the logical/smart decision

It's not that simple. the logical decision would depend on the person and their beliefs. also you have to think about the future. an abortion can hinder a woman's ability to have children later on. you saying it's not the life you want for yourself or your kid doesn't make sense to me. you're saying that you not being involved at all, is better than you seeing your child every weekend or holiday? which is not the case at all.

(going to assume a boy as it sounds wrong and he/she takes up more characters) If I'm not involved at all, I also don't see him leaving. I don't even know where he is, I don't see him so there's 0 awareness of his presence.Theres 0 heartbreak/regret here as I've had no contact however if I'd be in contact with the kid every now and then, I'd hate having to see him go away again. I want kids to raise them the entire time, not just sometimes which is the point I made which you can't see.

So this is to benefit you. not the child. trust me, a child would much rather see his father at least sometimes rather than never. he will only end up hating you for not wanting to be involved

Probably but again, its my choice and the one to blame isn't me, it was his mothers fault for making a decision without letting me be part of it. If he should blame anyone, it should be her.

Do you seriously believe the kid is going to blame the mother for choosing to give birth to it as compared to you, who would rather have essentially killed it? I doubt it. You can try and twist it anyway you want, but that's definantly not what the kid is going to be thinking. He most probably will hate you or will not be interested in you in the least and only think of you as an insignificant sperm donor.

So the kid should hate the mother for giving him life, but you should have no blame because it wasn't your choice and who would've rather seen him aborted? that makes zero sense
