Scientifically speaking, its not a safe and healthy thing to do. Yes, your vagina has active bacterial colony and yes, yogurt contains a similar bacteria, BUT the yogurt doesn't contain ONLY the bacteria! It contains many other fluids and chemicals which you don't want anywhere near your vagina.
P. S. - I'm a biology student and sexual health and hygiene is my special paper (and area of expertise).

Don't put yogurt in your vagina, the probiotic bacteria in the yogurt can upset your normal flora and cause a lot of discomfort! Your vagina is supposed to have a smell, as a self cleaning part of the body it releases discharge which smells. Only if the smell is extremely strong should you worry/consult your doctor.
Yogurt contains the same type of bacteria that lives in the vagina and helps to balance yeast levels and keep everything healthy. But I'm not sure that putting yogurt in your vagina is the smartest idea. Taking a probiotic supplement (which will also contain that type of bacteria) is a much safer bet.
I've heard about sitting in live yoghurt to cure thrush, it's supposed to be good for the vaginal flora or something.. I'd ask a medical professional before inserting it inside yourself though :s
