An interesting trend we've seen on GaG are questions about circumcision. A relatively hush-hush topic, GaGers have applied their curiosity and taken to GaG to find out more about this elusive topic, and what people really think about it. Check out some recent questions that popped up and the great insight you offered!

What Girls & Guys Said
15 22Chopping a bit of your cock off. What fucking nut came up with that one. A mad self harmer who hated himself probably. Anybody went near my cock with something sharp they better be ready to fight for their life coz one of us is going to die. And it's not going to be me.
The most important aspect of the infant circumcision debate is almost never talked about. The fact that the children who have this done do not bond properly with their mothers because of the severe trauma from the procedure, some babies actually die the trauma it is that severe.
The penis at that age has no membrane on the glans and the foreskin is physically attached to it, they rip it off of the glans and then cut it off. WITHOUT! any pain killers.
When you consider what we now know about how brain development is affected by things like trauma, abuse, love, bonding etc.. It becomes very clear that circumcision is absolutely having huge effects on the brains of those who have it done and not in positive ways. Everything from increased crime rates, STD's, failed relationships, failure to launch, abusive personalities, low performance in school etc...
Circumcision is HORRIFIC physical abuse done to a human when they are at their most vulnerable, when their brains are wiring for the world they live in based on their environment.
Bwahaha! I'm sorry but that is just too funny. I guess I'm just gonna drop out of college, damn my parents, never get married, and never get to ride in a spaceship along, with everybody else out there that has been circumcised. The "god damn plane has crashed into the mountain" with that logic.
No need to go full retard, you will only embarase your self. I will try to explain in very simple terms so you can follow along with that big college brain of yours. People who become, lets say rapists, most often are the people who are sexually abused as children. BUT not everyone who is sexually abused as a child becomes a rapist. Can you follow that so far? The same is true for all kinds of abuse, emotional abuse, violence and trauma. The more severe the trauma the more likely it will have negative effects on that persons life but not every one who suffers trauma responds in exactly the same way. The trauma of circumcision is so severe that babies die from it and very often pass out from the pain. It's so severe that babies who have it done do not bond properly with their mothers, this is REALLY bad. It is very difficult to measure the social cost of this kind of trauma but we know for sure that it exists.
Not all the effects are super serious like growing up to be violent or a drug user etc.. Some people won;t be affected much at all. Most people will have milder symptoms like say problems bonding properly with women, a VERY common problem, which will lead to broken marriages which will lead to more disfunctional children and so they cycle continues. The only way to end violence is through peace, literally that is what science of the brain is telling us, this includes hacking of the most sensitive part of the human body without consent or pain killers.
WOW that is SUCH BULLSHIT I cannot believe you actually put that in a post. You are out of your fucking mind dude... I am thankful I am circumcised, I sure would not want to go through it as an adult and I definitely would not stay uncircumcised. I had my 3 boys done and I would tell them to have their sons done.
@loofah
@Mesonfielde Mesonfielde, instead of tagging me in every selective post against circumcision, can you please just connect me with someone who can talk about it purely medically with me? I can't take a post that says "When you consider what we now know about how brain development is affected by things like trauma, abuse, love, bonding etc.. It becomes very clear that circumcision is absolutely having huge effects on the brains of those who have it done and not in positive ways. Everything from increased crime rates, STD's, failed relationships, failure to launch, abusive personalities, low performance in school etc... " seriously.
@loofah yep that is how a layman passes along the information a medical professional gives them. If you are also a medical professional and want to debate the issue this site is probably not the best arena for you.
It's all good dude. I don't come on this website with the intention to debate, if it happens once in a while, it happens. It would be cool to run into another medical student but I don't expect it. Just asked. With all due respect, my issue here is incorrect and exaggerated medical facts being used to incite and misinform a crowd. Seeing a lot of unsolicited bashing involved with this too. Not cool. Healthcare affects us all! Personal anecdotes and opinions are insightful to hear, but when it involves going off on tangents or goes into the territory of making stuff up, I simply don't know what to do with it. Anyways, you are entitled to your views. take care
@loofah Yeah understandable. I have since googled a lot of what we talked about, me and my Doc. on this subject and I understand a bit better now but still am a newb lol.
If it helps clarify that stuff was in reference to a few things, one was the ACE study about the effects of child hood trauma on brain development, being as it's common for circumcision to be very traumatic to the child.
I don't know how interested you are in this subject but if you are this site https://www.cirp.org/library/birth/ has a lot of information backed up with many links to medical research on the subject. Would love to hear your thoughts on some of it if you ever have the time.
I hate circumcision so much.
I hate ignorance so much. I hate when people ignore scientific fact in favor of unfounded propaganda that attempts to discredit a medical procedure that has proven medical benefits.
@boldenigma you'll thank me later psychologytoday.com/.../more-circumcision-myths-you-may-believe-hygiene-and-stds
@BoldEnigma I hate ignorance too. I hate when people ignore the well established fact that the foreskin is not "useless" and is very much a part of the whole male sexual experience. The foreskin keeps the glands sensitive and free of callus by protecting the glands from friction. Additionally, the foreskin is filled with numerous nerves. Those without foreskin will only have a fraction of a "whole" sexual experience. This is the choice that genital mutilators make for their babies. I would be pissed if somebody made that choice for me without my consent, and for good reason.
While I have no opinions on male circumcision, I still wonder why the CDC has never bothered to do their studies on American citzens for STDs right now since circumcision has been on the decline for the past 3 decades. To see if this will either contradict their circumcision study reports that they've done in Africa or support it.
Circumcision is healthier than not having it done. A lot of the best in the medical field recommend it.
I am very happy to have had it done and I had both of my boys circumsized. dont make them get it done later in life, just get it done when they won't remember anything.
Who would NOT recommend it if they can get quick and easy money for it? That, and "not remembering anything" - I'm pretty sure that has been debunked quite a few times by now. No matter, people will eventually learn that foreskin restoration is an option.
I dont remember anything and neither does anyone I know, and I know thousands. The best in medicine dont need a few bucks for a procedure that they likely dont even make money on as they are doing other things. Ridiculous.
This take sucks. There's nothing wrong with being cut. I prefer guys that are cut, that way their dick doesn't look like it's in a bloody cocoon
I wonder what you said if you had your labia literally chopped off to "make it not look like a squid" or some nonsense.
These are the same guys that paise the chick in the video posted here giving a biased opinion that favors them. It is just pushing an agenda. It is weird.
The point is, is that circumcising a baby is a really bad idea. It's a terrible risk to take for tiny benefits, no one's is attacking people who are circumcised, it's just a bad practice that needs to be stopped unless there is medical necessity to do so and of course if an adult wants it then ok, but it shouldn't just be allowed for babies to get it when the only reason is because the parents want it and so he doesn't have to clean under the hood. Also he becomes desensitized down there if he's circumcised and they have premature ejaculation problems in higher numbers and ED. Because it is aesthetically appealing is not a good reason to circumcise any one especially a baby.
You're all acting like being circumcised is a curse
@Mesonfielde That's different. The labia contains erogenous nerve receptors and actually serves a function. The foreskin has neither of these characteristics.
@Skadouchebag you're trolling, right?
@Mesonfielde No I am not. The foreskin is just a flap of skin. You can pull it back, right? So how could there be any nerve receptors there? And if the thing serves a function, I honestly can't tell what it might be. Why would the glans even NEED a sheath? If you're such an expert, then what does it do?
@Skadouchebag maintains the moisture so that your penis won't look like the one on the left:
https://i.img ur. com/00vP7SW. jpg (nsfw dick pic from a circumcised and the same penis with foreskin restored)
also, obviously to protect it from external harm, and most importantly, it is a natural lubricant (reduces friction with the vagina wall thus requiring less lubrication for the same level of movement) technically it's not just grazing against the wall
Check the video at the end of the myTake, really. I can find you more data if you want.
@Mesonfielde the link doesn't work.
Your preference for guys that are cut is not an argument for mutilating the genitals of babies anymore than a man's preference for female circumcision is an argument for female circumcision. Circumcision should be a choice that an adult makes, not a choice that is made for at birth. If my parents did that to me, I would resent them. Do not be surprised if any boys in the future grow up to resent you too if you do this to them.
@RTW1983 this is too old for me to care
I'm so fucking tired about how I'm such a FUCKING victim! And circumcision as a baby has "ruined my life "
That sort of shit makes wanna fucking circumcise out of spite!!!
Fuk, I'm just tired of how people bitch about it
Well, you are a victim of someone else's decision, which you might not have taken if the choice had been up to you. You cannot deny that.
STAY STRONG BUTTERCUP
@mesonfielde u can OBVIOUSLY tell that's the kind of fucking conceited bullshit i didn't come here for I am a victim of someone else's decision... Someone out there decided to have a kid whose a foreskin enthusiasts and if i had a choice, they wouldn't have -_-
@T-shirtsandkneehighs I wanna be strong but then I'd be a victim of "bullshit blah blah bullshit" and maybe i just wanted to be born a pussy boy... :/
This is not an attack on your perceived masculinity, this is just stated facts. No need to be angry about it, it doesn't change anything.
@mesonfielde Its just overstated facts howled down at us poor pathetic cut bastards *looks to the sky "DAMN MY LIFE"* over and over I'm not planning to raise a fool who believes every decision in his life should be his because it affects him I'll do this tho, if i ever actually regret being circumcised, then I'll consider letting my son decide ... so yea, we could wait for hell to freeze over too
No one said "pathetic" though. Mostly just "unfortunate", just like how people aren't going to say someone is pathetic for being either physically or sexually abused by their parents.
@mesofielde lmao, don't mistake my mockery for acceptance Come to terms with ur own dick n understand I'm happy with mines, SO happy with my cut penis n the fact that it was done when i was a baby that it renders ur argument moot I'm living fucking proof that cutting bears no bad fruit Its not ur body n u don't have the right to push so hard on this issue, ur "persistence" is only tolerated do to ur first amendment right that ur so clearly abusing
@Mesonfielde
Your hypothetical sons' bodies aren't yours either, so I don't see your point.
@Mesonfielde No, but children, babies don't fend for their fucking self, guardianship n parenthood give me the right That's the law of nature, and in case u fucking forgot, I'M A CIRCUMCISED GUY, decided by my dad And this crucial FIRSTHAND experience is telling me that everything ur saying is bull! I've got no reason to believe it'll have a negative effect on him! U give me bullshit about what could happen n i see ur bullshit only exsist in ur posts #sorrynotsorry
Just because a highly pervasive procedure didn't have any *significant* negative effects on your health doesn't mean that it doesn't and cannot happen, you know.
www.reddit.com/.../ckdok4o
@Mesonfielde OMG!!! BAD STUFF CAN HAPPEN? Just like with everything else in life? OMG OMG OMGEEE I'm not saving anyones life by leaving their foreskin on #notimpressed shit can happen either way
... you actually can, that's the whole point of this debate
I've seen the information, the whole point is that as far as health goes, cutting off the foreskin isn't dangerous and if anything more people argue it poses more health benefits than leaving it on
@Mesonfielde ^
You got an upvote from me @PhiOmega 👍
Thanks! :) @-Zoe-
welcome :D
Only reason: because cut dick looks better
Except that depends on who you ask. Ask any European, they think it looks weird. It is not the norm here, neither from a natural nor a social perspective. And really, is it worth slicing off a part of someone's penis at the age of 3 days without any kind of consent - for the sake of thinking "it looks better"? :p
I don't think 'any European' thinks it looks 'weird'. This has come up at work, and an Italian girl and two Polish girls said they hadn't seen it in their countries, but they preferred it. They didn't seem to think it looked 'weird'.
@KirstyW Might have been lucky with those, then. Circumcision is NOT the norm here, and therefore people think it's sad that you had to have your foreskin cut off for whatever reason.
I never understood why people are even circumcised.
The only people on here that are angry are the circumsized ones that had to try to convince themselves that it was better when they first realized there dick was different at age 12. There is nothing wrong with being uncut so stop complaining
I am so glad I had it done as an adult. I'm not having kids but if I did I don't know if I would do it to my sons.
I think personally the extra skin was horrible to look at.
Lol ill take both
At the same time? lol you dirty girl...
I prefer my man natural
People in Africa "CANT USE CONDOMS" uhh why the hell not? Condoms get dispatched regularly at public bathrooms and municipal / government buildings and offices. Don't come with that crap, people have a choice. There is like a 5% or something that doesn't have access to condoms or they are not correctly educated. But thus, they still will be able to put a condom on...
in Africa? Many people can barely afford food, not to mention luxuries like condoms.
Yes Africa. I live here , I think I would know. Condoms are dished out and placed at a lot of places around here. It's a choice!
Africa isn't all poor and dirty. It's probably 10 percent of the continent. People only pay attention to what's shown on tv in north america so that's why so many people think it's a country.
@HomerSimpson thank you , I thought the education was bad here haha!
No ways @Mesonfielde lol. you're view of africa is ignorant. We have plenty of condoms lmao
Hahaha. They're so easily accessible we fill them with water and throw people with it to prank them.
@TedStar Africa is a continent. I'm pretty sure you don't live in Ethiopia. Not sure about Kenya.
@Mesonfielde did YOU know that North America is a continent? And what does Ethiopia and Kenya have to do with the price of milk?
This made me feel kinda insecure about being circumcisied (sorry if spelled wrong) I don't know why
No reason for you to feel insecure about whatever way you are. As I stated in my opinion, this was a very biased take and therefor very wrong for an editor to publish. You will notice that he often uses one person's opinions who is known on here for tirades against circumcision. Don't allow any opinions to make your feelings go bad, especially about your wen self. Let your mind make your decisions, not somebody else's opeinions.
No point in feeling insecure about it as it wasn't your decision to begin with. But technically most of the "benefits" that people mention are extrapolated, and on the contrary, circumcised people are more likely to need extra lube for even vanilla sex, because the foreskin is what would otherwise be normally responsible for reducing some of the friction. If you have no problems - no pain, no harsh feelings - then just be as you are. The question is the choice what you make for your own children later on. And also, if you DO have problems, there are resources out there on how to start with foreskin restoration and replace/regrow what was removed.
I was circumcised as an adult. I prefer it. I'm not saying everyone must run out and have t done. I would suggest that if you are circumcised you not assume you habe it worse.
Their point is to make you feel that way... For whatever reason they are trying to change people from doing it even though it is a recommended prcedure (do your own google search). Most women also prefer it. Do not have your child wait to get it done they are just trying to get people to not do it as later it will be painful and expensive. People make all kinds of decisions for their children and this is one of them, you aren't a victim, you are lucky you dont have to deal with it not being done and women will prefer cut.
@jersey1 except it's not recommended in any other places than the USA where they get quick bucks, about $200 to $800 depending on where they have it done?
"However, there are much more effective and less invasive ways of preventing these conditions. For example, practising good hygiene to prevent UTIs, or using a condom to prevent STIs."
read more: www.nhs.uk/.../Advantages-and-disadvantages.aspx
You can also check how Europe doesn't really agree as there are numerous alternatives that don't include genital mutilation: www.theguardian.com/.../circumcision-the-cruellest-cut
You say mutilation and I say best for the child. Most women here want cut as well even in the hookup sites it is a requirement with many. HPV is less of an issue as well when circumsized and AIDs as well to a lesser degree. Plus a reduction in other infections as many do not spend the extra time and effort to clean an uncircumsized member. I want to shower and go.
@Jersey1 mate, I just shower and go and I'm uncirc.
@mesonfielde Then you run a higher risk of infection, and you know it because I have seen your other posts.
@Jersey1 never had an infection so far and the USA still has a higher rate of UTIs than Europe , so eh - not convinced (and it's still a treatable condition without chopping part of your penis off)
Nothing wrong with being circumcised, so there's no reason to feel bad about being circumcised it's just a bad routine practice, the fact that it's routine is what's disgusting, little baby boys who have perfectly healthy penises have an unnecessary surgery, all surgeries should be avoided for babies, surgery for babies should only be out of necessity.
