Used a condom, but what to use Plan B just incase?

We had sex last night, used a condom and everything but just to be 100% we want to use Plan B tonight (just under 24 hrs later). Is this a pretty sure way to make sure she's not pregnant?

  • You don't want to depend on stuff like Plan B on a regular basis. Those pills contain a sh*tload of hormones to do their thing, often with side effects (nausea is a popular one). They're intended for emergencies only If you intend to have sex more often, it would be much healthier for her to use proper contraceptives such as the pill.

You *could* use it, but if you used the condom correctly and it didn't break or anything the odds of pregnancy are extremely small anyway.

  • Yeah, that's definitely going to increase your chances. Just putting it out there, though, the Plan B pill is full of really intense hormones that don't always have the nicest side effects. So, if it's necessary or you're really that worried or whatever, then go ahead and use it, but I'd say in general, that's not a great method of contraception to use like, every time you have sex.

    • I know, but we don't plan on having sex again. It was a one time thing, so we both want to be 100% sure.

    • fair enough. if she's okay with using it, go for it. with that and proper condom use, your chances of pregnancy are really low.

    • Especially considering that most condoms come coated in spermicidal lube.

  • I wouldn't.

She should be fine unless the condom broke.

Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill---so you should limit it's use to emergencies only.

If you don't feel safe using a condom only, a better solution would be for her to get on the birth control pill.

  • Plan b is not meant to be used as a regular method of birth control. If you are very concerned, I would suggest using it this time for peace of mind. But next time, use multiple methods of birth control for extra protection- or just don't have sex.

    • I mean if she is panicking and wants to use it, there is nothing WRONG with using it per say. But definitely don't rely on it for every time you have sex.

  • yes! those pill work like a charm!

  • plan B is supposed to be used ONLY when protections fails and its NOT supposed to be used as a birth control method.

  • dude, chill. if you used a condom she's not pregnant...I mean unless you emptied it out in her vagina afterwards...don't use plan B unless you need to because you didn't use protection. It's not good for her.

  • If you used a condom and it didn't break, AND she took plan B, you're probably safe.

If you're going to continue having sex, please have her go on regular birth control. Plan B is super harsh on your system and should only be used in absolute emergencies.
