What exactly does he mean when he says let's "Play it by ear"?

I am supposed to hook up with this guy, we talked for a while, and he wanted to meet up, but I told him I was hesitant cause we work together, he said he hadn't thought about that. But I may not have the same job come fall and if that is so I will no longer be working with him. He said that he wanted to meet and asked me if I was turned on by this all, cause he was. I told him I wasn't thinking like that at that moment, but I was glad I turned him on and that it was hot. We discussed it more and he said let's play it by ear. So what does he mean, wait and see, or go ahead and just go with the flow and see what happens?

    Both.

He likes you, and you like him, so this is obviously enough to do *something*. Many a good thing has been ruined, however, by forcing it into something else.

So instead of going in with a fixed plan on where the relationship needs to be and when, he would rather you spend your time enjoying each other's company, letting the future sort itself out.

    • Thank you for clearing that question up for me....

  • To me it means let s just let things flow and see what happens and decide what to do then

    • So is that saying wait till fall or act now?
