I do it. I just passed 7 days. It personally makes me feel better. The retention of sexual energy within me - I like it. I'm also personally not finding it hard after the first few days, especially with cold showers. I wish people would actually try before judging and closemindedly saying "it's bullshit". In fact, usually the people saying that are the ones who don't have enough strength to try it for a significant period of time themselves. I've been there. I couldn't make it to 3 days and once I relapsed, I told myself that this is bullshit.

I personally am on the fapstronauts' side. It has helped me out quite a bit. I don't know why people are so quick to judge. Even if it's placebo or unsubstantiated, if it makes us feel good and works for us, what's the big deal?
A lot of things are yet to be proven or substantiated. I'm not going to wait or sit around and live an inferior life waiting for some "evidence". Instead, I'll just go with what feels good and what might even be evidence in the future.
And porn specifically definitely does have negative effects:
Overall, the point is to stop with the porn. That's really the worst part of all this.
Masturbation in and of itself isn't nearly as bad especially if done in moderation, but again, people are finding that they feel more energetic and confident by abstaining. I feel it too. So it's still worth to try.
Again, we all have stupid arbitrary little things we do to make ourselves feel better that are unsubstantiated by scientific findings. So even if #NoFap has no scientific backing, it's just one of many things that seem to help some people. So why not?0 0 0 0One thing I will say is abstaining from masturbation can be used as a tactic to create dissatisfaction in life. Not a general, ambiguous one that has no immediate solution, but a very concrete and specific one - no sexual release. What this does it forces you to find alternative ways to channel that sexual energy and get your mind off the fact that you're horny as fuck. It coerces many to fucking do something with their lives. Go to the gym, work through their problems, meet people, apply for jobs, etc. It urges one to live a more fulfilling and interesting life to compensate for the dissatisfaction. I imagine there are a few people that don't operate like that, but I'd say the majority do. And there were some ancient civilizations that experimented with celibacy, etc for similar reasons. So this isn't exactly some new fad...
Say what you want, I'm still not going for this one. It reminds me too much of "go to gym X amount of time to prove the world you're not a failure". I don't need to prove anything to anyone.
It's not about proving anything to anyone. I'm personally doing this for myself.
Well there is nothing to gain this sounds like the church is trying to start a twitter campaign though I"m surprised they're not using Latin.

Guys think they'll be more motivated to approach women if they're really sexually frustrated. Seems dodgy to me.
Some people do it because they have addictions, like the masturbate and/or watch porn so much it's interfering with their life and stopping them from doing other things. That's fair enough I suppose.
Some have these weird beliefs that if you masturbate you lose energy or it gives you acne or whatever - seems pretty backwards to me tbh, considering all the actually proven health benefits of masturbation, and the flimsy evidence to back up the fapstronauts' claims..
I don't know, it's their life.. I just disapprove 'cause i'm a hedonist mostly I s'pose :') . I just think, why limit pleasure? Y'know?0 0 0 0We're just going by feeling. We personally feel more energetic, etc by not fapping. There was a famous wrestler who wouldn't masturbate for two months before a major fight for the same reason. Even if it's placebo or "fake" or unsubstantiated, why not if it subjectively makes us feel good?
As I said, it's your life. I just think it makes more sense to go by the actual science that shows masturbation helps prevent prostate cancer, lowers stress, helps to prevent premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction, etc.
No jealous and insecure girlfriend.
Porn makes men have problem in the bedroom too, which ruins relationships. Definetly not good. If you want to watch girls on a computer screen, and your sex drive might get worse and your expections for girls get higher and higher. Be my quest lol.
I don't reccomend it.0 1 0 0Not fap? But its stupid whats the point?
https://i.imgur.com/aSydGVb.jpg0 0 0 0I don't know. I don't understand it.
Not fapping I'm guessing XD
0 0 0 0I know. But why? Why would someone deny him/herself that pleasure?
because of someone else, like they said, jealousy or maybe because they are way too addicted and they want to change that

0 9Why would you want to do that in the first place. Look almost every guy (>95%) your age jerk off frequently... although most will never admit it! Masturbation is normal and healthy. Keep it up! What are your thoughts?
0 0 0 0Not like I was going to stop. It's a bodily need anyways. I don't understand it really.
See my opinion. For some it does really help. Even if there's no scientific backing for it, so what? If it works for some people, even just as a placebo effect, there's nothing wrong with that. I think people should at least try it before writing it off so harshly and closemindedly.
I guess save your sexual energy for your partner.
0 0 0 0And what if you don't have sexual partners?
Asker, you learn how to survive being sexually unfulfilled for indefinite periods of time. This for some helps build mental toughness.
so some people can feel superior to others
0 1 0 1Not about that at all. I mean, yes part of it is that it does make you feel a bit better about yourself. You feel more confident in your ability to control yourself to such great lengths. Nothing wrong with that.
@R3d_Anonymous the. n why tell people about it? Why not just keep your hands to yourself? Nope, it's for attention.
We all have the tendency to want to mention things about ourselves that set us apart from the masses. Doesn't automatically mean we think we're superior to people, just because we take pride in something we do. One may be very confident in for example his tennis abilities and be eager to talk about it when asked or there is an on-topic discussion, but that doesn't mean he thinks he's objectively better than everyone else just because of that. And often we also do it in the form of making a tact recommendation. It helped me out, so you should give it a try too.
Only result I see from it is sexual frustration and a built up amount of semen that will be too much to deal with.
0 0 0 0If you are totally abstinent from both sex and fapping, and if you are a guy, it is actually bad for your health, as there is a negative correlation between lots of sex+fapping and testicular cancer, i. e. the more you have been active in one or both, the lower the rates are. Plus I don't know about you, but I would guess men that are not at all horny would be less prone to date rape? Plus it feels horrible to let that fluid accumulate for more than two-three days. If a person has religious reasons, I respect those. But it does not make you a better, more highly moral person, as it is not provable that less sex=being more moral, because if it were, we would not have sex organs. Addressing women's plight in all this, it seems bad to deny allowing a natural orgasm regularity that might have effects that could be negative (although not as well-understood as the male situation, unfortunately), i. e. if having orgasms are bad, why do women get them?
This is not in consideration of porn, vis a vis whether it's an addiction that should be fought, or whether it's safe, etc.0 0 0 0The point is to put your energy elsewhere, as well as to encourage you to go out and get laid yourself.
0 0 0 0Exactly, and it's quite reliable in my opinion (saying that both as an expression and reference to my opinion in this question).
It's for controlling/getting rid porn addiction. That's no easy task. I don't see point in stopping masturbation but stopping it accelerates control over porn. Anyway, it's good if you've porn addiction. in my opinion, stop watching porn but don't stop masturbation.
0 0 0 0See my opinion for why it may be a good idea to also abstain from masturbation. And yes, at least you have one part down: porn is bad.
What is it? I've never heard of it. What's it mean?
0 0 0 0You have to not masturbate for a period of time.
LOL that's so silly. I can quit masturbating any time I want. That's not a challenge.
Will power I guess but you'll be really frustrated doing that, I still don't know why masturbation is called faping
1 0 0 0Because of the onomatopoeia for stroking one's penis. The female equivalen is "shlick".
Wow that's a weird name for that, learn something new all the time hear
It's not always that bad. After a while, you get used to it and get better at resisting urges. Plus, you learn how to channel that frustration in creative ways so you don't feel quite as frustrated anymore.
