It usually takes a lot of guts for a man to tell a woman she is beautiful, and usually implies a deeper connection. Whereas "You're sexy" more often than not means I want you right here, right now.
Hmm. So what kind of connection are we talking about here? A number of guys I barely know will say something like that to me by the end of an evening out. To me, there's no grounds for that feeling of a significant connection until much later, when you've had a chance to hang out and be around each other...
Perhap in that circumstance it'd be something like 'i want to go out again and get to know you better, not just get into your pants.' kinda thing.
I think if its said it is true, however that doesn't really determine the motive behind saying it. If it was just a kind compliment or if he's bein' a creeper lol.
If it is a boyfriend then it is possible he just felt a rush of emotion and said he thinks your beautiful meaning he loves you very much. He would probably want to have sex with you but it would be unrelated to the statement.
If it is in a club then its probably a line to get in your pants to do the naughty dance.
LMAO. Well, it wasn't at a club, but I'm not checking that off my list of possible interpretations. Just a guy I had a short chat with. He wants to go out, but when my friend explained that to me I became a little apprehensive... A lot of guys compliment me that way, and I always think it's odd since I consider myself relatively plain looking.

every guy is different. He may want to do more than sleep with you, he may be genuinely interested, but he does find you sexually attrative, because it is virtually impossible to find a woman beautiful, but not sexually appealing as well. but don't hold it against him if he says you are beautiful, it's a nice thing.
Thank you. :-) It was just a little confusing because the guy who said it doesn't really know me very well, and one of my friends told me that "beautiful" is bro-code for "I'm jumping you at the earliest possible opportunity" and I didn't think that was possible unless you actually knew the person -- I mean, at least having had one date or a longer sort of conversation.

Most guys probably mean it I think. Cause I don't really hear that from guys much, I'd hear other compliments if they just are trying to woo you, but not serious.
So calling a girl beautiful is a serious statement? What would be used if just "trying to woo"?
It's used if they really have interest in you I think. And if they're just trying to kinda coerce you into thinking they care more just to get you in bed they say other things. I think. Then again, those kinda people might just say anything. But most guys don't seem to use that word casually. at least from my experience.

This is one of my pet peeves. It takes a lot of courage for me to tell a lady she's beautiful. It's like Me: "You're absolutely gorgeous"
Her:"No I'm not"
Me: "Well, f*** it your ugly then... damn".
Many guys don't actually mean it, though. It's not the same as what you're describing, where the guy struggles to get the line out. Some guys just say it because it's something to say.

I know. I feel bad for the guys who mean it in that sweet, sincere/old fashioned way. It's not very common anymore, esp not among the guys who are closer to my age.
