Why are Americans so closed-minded about nudity & sex?

Why do they shun it and it's 'offensive' but in Europe it's just part of life? And why is it such a touchy subject for girls, but not guys?

  • Yeah I agree with you. All the abstinence-bullsh*t, the whole bible belt, all the censorship in American TV programmes, and in American films the girl always keeps her bra on during sex. :P

    I think it's because America is much more religious than Western Europe.

    On the other hand, Americans have a distorted idea of how Europe is. I live in Amsterdam, and there are lots of really loud and annoying American tourists here who think they can just do anything and people will accept it. They're always really annoying to us girls in Amsterdam and when you walk through the red light district it's always filled with Americans, who obviously don't realize that many of the prostitutes who work there don't do it voluntarily.

    Over here,if you actually choose to have sex,you get labeled a slut,whore,everything in the book.

    As for 12/13 year olds having sex,that is NOT being open minded about sex,that is the result of bad parenting and stupidity.

  • America? It's like smut-ville here. We have these 12-13 year old "prostitot's" (young chicks that dress like sluts). P2P programs which you can find basically any kind of p*rn you want to find, people sleep around everywhere. Bi-curiousity/sexuality is prevalent. I don't know what you're talking about.

  • Americans are plenty close-minded depending on where you live. I've had to take at least two abstinence classes, it's ridiculous. Like sex is a crime, and the usual message of "you will get pregnant and/ or get AIDS and die."

  • That really is just a huge stereotype. I don't shun it and it's not offensive. Sex is wonderful & amazing and there are laws that you can't be naked in public but that's doesn't mean that we shun it.
