I've done that several times. The reason that he did this is because it's painful outside of pants (especially jeans). Rubbing on the outside is a faaar cry from a hand job, you mustn't get it confused. Also, with the hand job (I'm assuming you're inexperienced with it), you must move with the contour of the Johnson, don't do a standard up and down stroking, that hurts too.

this seems odd to me considering you were just going over his pants.
