Why do people think its normal for women to smell like fish down there?

PSA: Its not. Girls, if you do, you either have an infection, or you don't clean yourself properly. Guys: if all the girls you've been with have this problem, I don't know what to tell you. I just hear guys cracking jokes about girls smelling like fish and on Jerry Springer (its on in the background rn) all the women say their boyfriend is coming home smelling like fish so he must be cheating. That's just nasty. And those trees that bloom in the spring with flowers that smell like fish? They call them pussy trees where I live. What the fuck. Clean yourself 😐 I've yet to have this problem.

If there is a strong, fishy vaginal odor and discharge, then it should probably get checked out for bacterial vaginosis. Every woman has a different/different level of natural scent that can vary alongside the menstrual cycle. Also the material and tightness of clothing, how much an individual woman perspires down there, and hygiene practices plays a role as well, but no offense, why do you sound so mean about this? Some women may have some natural degree of fishy scent that could be normal. You can't speak for all women just based on yourself. It seriously varies a lot.

Yep! You aren't completely wrong or anything. What you said is true that an unusually strong smell and discharge is often a sign of infection that should get checked out. It's very common and unsuspecting things can cause it such as type of underwear. A woman needs to recognize what's normal for her and get anything abnormal or concerning checked out to be safe. But normal can vary from woman to woman, so it's a lot more complex then... oh, you smell because you're gross. People with clear skin say that about acne too, and it's just mean and ignorant because it's more complicated than that. And gotcha, your post sounded mad about something, I just didn't understand why. It's all good. I'm a medical student considering Ob/gyn so we've learned about a lot of this stuff. There are surprisingly a lot of misconceptions when it comes to genitalia. A random thing to say, but it's true.

Hygienic woman isn't supposed to smell like fish down there LOL. It's supposed to smell like fresh mild soap or something (which is a natural scent even when one's not using fem wash when washing down there) or smell nothing at all. Women who do smell like that don't have the habit of washing theirs (plainly with water bc frequent femwash usage may cause imbalance) after taking a piss off. :)

I've never smelled like fish I don't know what I smell like I can't think of a food to compare it with. One time after a night of heavy liquor consumption I smelled like alcohol down there. Very weird.

It's weird cause my guy friend loves going down on me. He told me that almost every other girl he's been with is disgusting down there. That's a great thing for me I guess :) haha.
