Why do women assume a guy is gay if he is single and not chasing anyone?

It's all part of the social double-standard trap that men face. If he's single and not chasing but not gay, he's a loser with no confidence and personality. If a man is single and looking, he is considered deperate and needy. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Chasing gives no comfort because it leads to negative drama; the ultimate is a sexual harassment case you can never win just for approaching the wrong woman at the wrong time.

Some men just give up. If he couldn't find a woman when he was young, the odds of finding one at a much later time in life are pretty slim. Having to play through the dating games such as, "Just wait and God will grant you your prayers," or my favorite, "Don't look around and someone will come to you or it will make you look creepy."

As others have pointed out, women don't think the man is gay. It's more like, he's not worthy because he doesn't have someone. It's men who tag a single man as gay for not having chicks. It's wrong no matter how you look at it. Unfortunately, that's how it is

My problem is that women assume I already have a girlfriend, while in reality I have never had a serious girlfriend before. Some of 'm are really waiting for me to come back with a girlfriend because I "could get one easily" according to them. But I'm very picky when it comes to girls, because I want one that's perfect for me. I'm not chasing after them either.

People can be so ignorant. I like being single and some of my family and friends assume I am gay and others assume I can't get a man.

The ones that assume I can't get a man are the ones who are always so desperate for a man in their lives they have been the other woman, thrown themselves at taken men, put up with being cheated on, hit, verbally and emotionally abused, you name it. They are truly pathetic when it comes to their romantic lives.

Just because others can't be happy and single doesn't mean they need to project their own insecurities onto others.

Well, I've never assumed a guy is gay because of that. Others might because they may have never seen you with a girl before.

Great question. I gave up on searching for a girl, and now my dad, and my grandfather think that I am gay. It's very disturbing. My best guess would that it's because if you are in the late teens, or early-mid 20s, you are expected to look for a girl, and for girls to look for you. Go to parties, try to meet someone, and so on. If he is not doing that, then they assume that something is wrong with him (psychologically), or that he is gay. I find that to be a totally wrong way to look at this.

not all women are like that. so far in my experience, I have found its men who like to tease other men who are single by calling them gays. but of course not all men are like that.

me... I honestly don't care that much if any guy in my community is taken or not. even if he is really a gay/bi he doesn't have to hide it. cause I am tolerant.
