I know there are girls here saying that they watch porn too, but, honestly, the proportion of guys that watch it is MUCH higher than the proportion of girls. 99.999% of all guys have purposefully seen porn, and I'd say 95% of them have actively watched it at some point in their lives (i.e. they've gone through a period where they watch it with some consistency). With girls, I'd say maybe 70% have seen purposefully seen porn, of those, mostly out of curiosity. I'd peg only 30% of women actively watching porn at some point in their lives.
For women to understand, I like to compare a man's need to watch porn as like a "period-inducer." Every woman has to have a period. And so does every man... it's called ejaculation. Think about it... the tesicles are always producing, regardless of the man's sexual activity. Unlike women, though, a man's "period" doesn't just "happen" (unless they're lucky and it happens in a dream while sleeping) -- men have to FORCE the period. The longer a man goes without ejaculation, the more he is affected by it.
Seriously, while I was growing up, I remember getting boners in class just by simply having a girl sit in front of me. If there's one thing that might cause guys emotional distress, it would be walking around with a boner all the time. It wasn't really feasible for me to try and live life without masturbating... I would HAVE to masturbate at some point, or else I'd literally be walking around with a boner all the time (in fact, there was one time where I did ejaculate... IN the middle of class, just sitting in my desk! I didn't even really try (I literally put my hand in my pocket to try and "squeeze" my penis down... well, it worked... in the precise *opposite* way I was expecting... luckly, my shirt was long enough so that it hung over my pants and thus the stains were covered by my shirt and nobody noticed... haha wow)... seriously, for as emotional as girls are during their periods, men have just as much if not more so raging penises).
SO -- the point of the above paragraph was to illustrate that most men NEED to ejaculate every so often... which means that if they don't have women to do it with, they NEED to masturbate. This is where porn comes in. Porn just makes it easier for a guy masturbate. It would take a lot longer and more time would be required to masturbate if porn wasn't available... so, porn speeds up our lives.
If I have a girl, then I don't need porn. But, if I don't, then I need to have my "period." Porn helps with this.
Of course, there are still guys out there who would look at porn regardless, just as there are women who look at it for whatever reason. But, for a lot of guys, even if they don't want to, they will at some point succumb to watching it if they don't have their physical needs met.
This explanation is HILARIOUS. Especially the comparison to having a period. I think you're misunderstanding the analogy I'm painting. I'm not trying to compare the experience of a period to masturbation. I'm trying to say that, women need to have periods (biological fact), men need to ejacualate (biological fact). So, a woman's period might not be pleasant, and ejaculation may be pleasureable... doesn't change the scenario I've illustrated. And, while medications may temper periods, that is not natural.
